1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Mutant Robot on: October 06, 2009 01:58:48 PM

Okay, so I made this robot for my baby step nephew.  I wanted the arms and legs to be wrenches, but they ended up looking like lobster claws and bird feet.  I was going to continue with the mutant theme and give him rabbit ears, but the guy has enough appendages as it is.

Here he is with friends at his good-bye party.

2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / kissy octopus and KLAX on: May 25, 2009 03:36:12 PM
I made a couple more stuffed animals and I want to show them off.  This first one is a patchwork octopus.  I didn't name her because I gave her to a baby.

There was a crazy period of my life where I became totally addicted to the 80's video game KLAX.  Then one day when I was arranging my Anthropologie initial mugs I realized that I had all the letters to spell it, and decided it was the perfect name for my new spacey soft guy.

Here they are with friends pig/wolf and Penelope.

I made up all the patterns myself, except for the pig/wolf, and all the fabrics are leftover scraps.

Thanks for looking!
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Cute Monster softie on: October 26, 2008 10:52:56 PM
Hi Craftster!

I made a monster softie using scrap fabric.  I made him because I need a gift for a baby shower.  Am i the only one who makes these things and then can't bear the thought of a child slobbering all over them?

He's made out of embroidered velvet, brocade, something sparkly and knit, and black vinyl.  I think I might make several softies in this week before the baby shower and give away the one that I like the least.

For my next challenge I think I'll try and make a softie that can sit up on it's own.  This guy can only sit up against something.

That's his distant cousin the pig/wolf.  IF I were to keep the monster he would need a name.  Any suggestions?  If not he'll just be monster 1.  Then I'll make monster 2 etc.

I think that the craftster community deserves a shot of the fine embroidery.  It's just a messy little ziggity zaggity.

4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / lemony springtime luxury throw on: August 19, 2008 06:36:27 PM

This was the first log cabin quilt I ever made, though not the first one I ever posted.  I had a lot of fabric from making skirts shorter.  You cut off the bottom of a skirt and end up with a strip, so they seemed destined for a log cabin quilt.

Voila!

Here's the back.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 18th century corset on: August 19, 2008 06:23:38 PM
Here's an 18th century corset I made from a butterick pattern.  I totally thought it wouldn't end up fitting me because I'm sorta long-waisted, but it fits really well.  It has a zipper in the back and black satin bias binding around the edges, which I stitched on by hand.  Beautiful.

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My kitty needs a name. on: August 19, 2008 05:58:01 PM
Gosh, knitting takes a long time.

I knitted her out of a yarn called Rosa Parks.  She has button eyes and no claws.

What should I call her?

8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Luxury log cabin throw on: August 19, 2008 05:18:14 PM

So, I recently finished this quilt.  It's so beautiful, I think it needs a title, like a work of art.  Any ideas?

It's made from scraps from the costumes shop I just got laid off from.

Well, what do you think?
9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / pig/wolf softie on: August 19, 2008 04:59:50 PM
Hi Craftster!

This is the first project I've posted.  It's a sick velvet siamese softie.  I got the pattern from "Softies" by Therese Laskey.  Thanks Therese!

All the fabric is scrap from the costume shop I just got laid off from.

Tell me what you think!
