1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Granite and Quartz Square Counter top Samples? on: December 12, 2010 03:53:58 PM
Help! So, I have two big boxes of those little samples of countertops you see at the contractors. One box is all squares of quartz and the other is granite. One side is polished on all of the square. I was wondering if etching cream works on these types of stone? Otherwise, what else can I do??
2  COOKING / Dessert / Quick and Easy Desserts? on: August 06, 2010 04:06:15 PM
Hey guys! So, with working seven to eight hours a day, soccer games, a boyfriend, and numerous family events, I often have to make myself quick meals. While I've mastered this with little difficulty, I've yet to discover any really fast and delicious desserts. Can you help me?? I love chocolate and caramel, peanut butter not so much. But hey, I'll try any recipe! Just needs to be fast and not require any ridiculously hard to find ingredients. Thanks guys!!
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / College Survival Kit? on: July 22, 2010 10:22:24 AM
Alright, so my boyfriend is headed off to college soon and I, being a year younger, am going to be a senior in high school. We've been dating for just over a year and a half, and I want to put something together to help him survive college. I've already got a few things, band aids, kool aid packets, tide to go stain remover pen, stuff like that, but I need some more ideas. What did you need your first year of college?
4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Crown!? Help! on: October 02, 2008 08:17:07 PM
Mmkay. This year I'll be going as the Queen of Hearts from a deck of cards. I have most of the stuff for my costume, I just need to get sewing. Unfortunately, I have no idea on how to do the crown. I'd prefer something that I could wear again or be able to change so I could wear it again. Any ideas? Any at all?
5  COOKING / Dessert / First Time Fondant Help? on: August 24, 2008 08:08:23 AM
Mmkay. So. Next weekend my friends and I are having a four-way birthday party (Two never had theirs and two are coming up) and we decided to have four cakes because we love food and sugar. I called doing the regular birthday cake as I really wanted to try my hand with fondant. I've found myself a recipe, but still have a few questions.

A. Does gel or the liquid food coloring work better?

B. The recipe I found had the fondant cool over night before adding color. Is any long cooling of the fondant necessary?

C. Has anyone ever tried flavoring the fondant with a little extract? (Example: Peppermint extract or Lemon extract)

Any other tips or tricks you have would be most appreciated! Thank you!
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / What to do!? on: August 12, 2008 09:26:41 AM
Mmkay. Well. Yesterday I went to Goodwill and I found some amazing fabric! Unfortunately, it's not a big sheet or anything. They're big strips. The black and lavender pieces are about 7 feet by a foot and a half. The dark purple is about 7 feet by 2 feet 6 inches. Now, I love absolutely love this fabric and the colors and I really want to make a dress out of it. But I need advice on how to do it.

I'd like to have a poofier skirt and maybe a sweetheart neckline. What I was thinking of doing, was using the dark purple for the skirt as it's the widest, then the black for the bodice and maybe do a cascade. Unfortunately, I have no clue on where to start or even how to do this. Patterns? Advice? Anything would be very much appreciated... Especially if you've worked with long pieces and not nice normal square pieces.
