1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Bit o' encouragement for mum on: May 26, 2014 05:38:29 PM
Hey guys!
My mum's new to all this online crafting stuff, and has just started knitting again after 16 years. I'm really proud of her and she seems a bit disappointed in the lack of any comments on her first project on ravelry, a baby cardiagn that's here:
http://www.ravelry.com/projects/CarolL10/coconut-ice---ballerina-wrap-cardigan-for-baby

If anyone could go over and maybe post a comment that would be AWESOME.

Thanks!!

Having come across what I thought to be the most epic fabric ever made, and having a ball coming up, I did what had to be done.... made a cat in the hat dress Smiley
Unfortunately, the ball was a bit of a flop, being filled with really trashed people, so we left early.
Luckily, the day after, there was a street fair (Rugby World Cup is on town) on, so I got to wear it out to there too! It was a brilliant day out. It got many comments walking around town, and seemed to make people smile, so it was a success!  Smiley

The petticoat has a bit of an odd black underneath because the whole dress was made in two days, so we reused a petticoat from another dress.

Made using these instructions:

Photo time!

Comments and constructive criticisms welcomed Smiley

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Similar Sewing Pattern? on: February 09, 2011 05:34:41 PM
I recently fell in love with this dress:

http://affordaballdresses.co.nz/html/rochelle/80512.html

But, none of the sizing is right for me, so I figured I'd make it.
Does anyone know of any similar sewing patterns? Doesn't have to be exact, just similar Smiley

Thanks!

awesome!

did you somehow cut the top out of the existing skirt while maintaining enough of it to create the dress? or was there fabric left over from the first skirt?

in either case, you are a fabric magician!

The skirt was originally a full-circle, so it got cut down to a half-circle, and luckily still fit, and the other half was used for the bodice. I wish I had fabric left over, or that I could find it again  Smiley

Thanks for all the awesome replies!
Yeah, the ball was a load of fun, it was held at the Skytower, the tallest free-standing building in the southern hemisphere, which made it pretty awesome Smiley

Skytower:

I'm looking into making a set of matching wings at wearing it to a masquerade ball that's coming up, making it the best-value dress I've ever owned lol
I really wish I could find this fabric again, but it was an end of line Sad Still, I live in hope!
