231  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Girl Scouts Gone Wild!!! on: December 16, 2008 05:22:12 PM
I saw a shirt similar to this a few years ago and thought it was brilliant. I used to be a Girl Scout and thought it very *cough* appropriate. Fast-forward to this winter; my boyfriend's brother's girlfriend (confused yet? lol) is a professed die-hard girl scout. She was in up until....however long you can be a girl scout...and this shirt flashed into my brain. I had to make it. I just hope she likes it as much as I do hehe..

My only disappointment with it is that the image is ever so slightly to the right I think. And the fact that the red fabric paint didn't cover the black lettering where it overlapped. Oh well. I still think it turned out pretty good.

C&C welcomed!  Grin
232  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / oh little bird sitting on the tea on: December 15, 2008 06:41:20 PM
I made these tea coaster for a swap and its my first time really attempting embroidery. I think the birds are the cutest things ever! I'm going to have to make some more for me.

Sorry for the not-so-stellar picture quality. C&C welcome  Smiley
233  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / birdies, stars, and trees oh my! on: December 15, 2008 06:37:43 PM
Here is a collection of xmas cards I made. I love the ones with the little birdies on them  Grin

234  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / matryoshka doll knitting needles on: December 15, 2008 06:35:55 PM
Here are some matryoshka dolls I made out of clay that I mounted on top of some knitting needles. Of course they fell off the needles in transport Sad but they look cool  Grin

235  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Sweet doggie sentiments on: December 15, 2008 10:52:35 AM
I made this for my boyfriend's parents for xmas. Recently they had to put down one of their golden retrievers due to old age which was very hard for them to do; I just wanted to create a piece that paid homage in a subtle way to old "Blue". I think its sweet, and I love the dog prints  Smiley

C&C are appreciated. Thanks!
236  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Quirky ornaments with personality. on: December 10, 2008 05:49:50 PM
I've been loving all the awesome ornament ideas being tossed around here. I've come up with a few of my own to contribute...   Grin Grin

Meet Mr. Pickle. This is my take on the traditional Christmas pickle. I've always wanted one but never had one. I finally made this for addicted2knitting in the December Birthday swap and now of course I have to make one for me  Cheesy I shaped a bit of foil to be roughly the size of a small pickle and covered it with clay. I think it gave it very realistic curves and wrinkles like a pickle has. The arms and legs are wire (I got the idea from the BentObjects guy http://www.bentobjects.blogspot.com/) and I thought it was appropriate to glue the whole body to a fork  Grin I wish I had more tools so I could have molded the fork more but as it was all I had the strength for was to bend it  Roll Eyes

I also made a2k a "birthday" ornament since her birthday is on the 24th. I got the idea from all the cool altoid tin ornaments I've been seeing - its made from a small oval gift box (the lid was turned into another ornament) that I painted sky blue. I mod poged a snowflaky background (I don't know if you can actually see it in the picture) and then sculpted a tiny winter tree, snow landscape, and dog (modeled after a2k's pup) to fit in the box. I used wire for the tree frame. After baking, I carefully folded up a handful of tiny paper boxes that I wrapped with one strand of embroidery floss to be the presents. I glued those to the branches, dotted with glue, and sprinkled liberally with glitter. On the back is a little description of the tree and its significance.

Lastly, I made a simple tree of life ornament out of a bangle and some mixed white/clear/iridescent beads.

Let me know what you think  Grin

237  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Tis' the season for quirky ornaments on: October 27, 2008 05:37:15 PM
One of my dear friends has been having a string of really crappy luck, so I decided to make some spur of the moment ornaments out of felt. She loves sushi and guinea pigs so I thought it was very appropriate. They were actually really easy to make and remind me of the felt ornaments my mom used to make when I was a kid.  Smiley

I hope this was posted in the right area (sorry if not!).
238  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / I love the colors! Prettyful quilt on: October 27, 2008 05:30:45 PM
I think slowly as I make each quilt I'm getting better. I attempted a simple square quilt again, and actually for the most part the corners line up nicely. I think the colors look great and I love the patterns. I was really worried that it would be overwhelming but I think it works.

Comments and crits appreciated.  Grin
239  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / When life is drear, have a beer! on: October 27, 2008 05:28:01 PM
Here's a xstitch I made for my boyfriend's brother who is a big fan of beer (appropriate I would think  Wink)

240  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Resin and Shrinky FuN! on: October 27, 2008 05:24:33 PM
I've been working diligently on a variety of xmas gifts for my friends and family and here is some fruit of my labor.

Here's some zombie resin magnets I made for my boyfriend's brother and girlfriend who are zombie fanatics.

And some shrinky dinks I put pin backs on - going to my sis. The blue cup on the end is saying "How about a nice glass of shut the f*ck up" which cracks me up. And a resin spoon pendant for my sis as well.

I love how easy and self-gratifying this is! Smiley
