231  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / I love the colors! Prettyful quilt on: October 27, 2008 05:30:45 PM
I think slowly as I make each quilt I'm getting better. I attempted a simple square quilt again, and actually for the most part the corners line up nicely. I think the colors look great and I love the patterns. I was really worried that it would be overwhelming but I think it works.

Comments and crits appreciated.  Grin
232  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / When life is drear, have a beer! on: October 27, 2008 05:28:01 PM

233  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Resin and Shrinky FuN! on: October 27, 2008 05:24:33 PM
I've been working diligently on a variety of xmas gifts for my friends and family and here is some fruit of my labor.

Here's some zombie resin magnets I made for my boyfriend's brother and girlfriend who are zombie fanatics.

And some shrinky dinks I put pin backs on - going to my sis. The blue cup on the end is saying "How about a nice glass of shut the f*ck up" which cracks me up. And a resin spoon pendant for my sis as well.

I love how easy and self-gratifying this is! Smiley
234  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Stuffie newb + zombie monster = deranged cuteness on: September 26, 2008 09:17:39 PM
This was my second attempt at a stuffie type thing. My first was ended in utter failure when I tried to make a small dog and ended up sewing the seams in the wrong order and being left unable to sew the last seam shut >.< This time however, I totally winged it and it didn't come out too badly. I modeled this after Lobsterchicky's wisted stuffie zombie sock monster, since this was made for her for the jar o' whimsies swap. A few of the seams are not so great but overall, I think its really cute. It has a bit of character, let's say  Cheesy

Let me know what you think. I'm happy for my first completed attempt. Any comments or suggestions for the future?
235  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / zombie want braaaaiiiinnnnssss - resin wundekin on: September 26, 2008 09:13:20 PM
Here are two resin pieces I made for Lobsterchicky for the recent jar o' whimsies swap. I love the first one the bestest. lol

In case you can't read what the second one says, it reads "I love you for your mind." Of course that's what all of them say.
236  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Lay Your Head on my Sweet Sweet Claws on: September 26, 2008 09:10:04 PM
Here is a stenciled pillowcase I made for Lobsterchicky for the recent jar of whimsies swap. The lettering was done freehand which explains why it sucks so badly, but I love the way the lobster came out. You can't see very well in this picture but I put a layer of gold paint over the black which makes it shimmer a bit.

Wide Shot:

Who wouldn't want to be cradled by a lobster when you go to sleep?
237  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Badge of honor for my best friend on: September 14, 2008 01:31:40 PM
My best friend's myspace page declares that her official job title is "ass manager" so I thought it would be hilarious to make a pin for her.

She actually works at Starbucks as a manager, but I'm wondering if this would be "work appropriate"? haha.
238  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / very simple but cute doggie quilt on: September 14, 2008 01:28:51 PM
This is my second attempt at a quilt and this pattern is actually easier than the first one I did. But I really like the way it turned out; sometimes a more simple design looks better, and considering my lack of knowledge in quilting, I think I did a better job this time around.

Here's a wide shot:

And a close-up of the fabric:

This is for my parents for xmas. I hope they love it  Grin
239  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Dark Knight resin bracelet goodness on: September 14, 2008 01:24:52 PM
I decided to make this bracelet for a dear friend's birthday who is obsessed with the Dark Knight movie. I embedded these pictures in resin and then backed it with a little slab of sculpey clay with loops sticking out the sides since I dont have a dremel tool to drill holes in the resin. I kinda think it looks a little cooler anyway  Cheesy

Please let me know what you think.

240  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Resinastrophe !!! on: September 12, 2008 07:36:32 PM
I am so glad I found this forum because I seriously need to vent after the botch-job I did on my latest project  Angry

I got an idea to use resin to create a mosaic suncatcher type thing out of broken pieces of glass and a picture frame. I hot glued the glass to the frame thinking that that should be enough to seal the resin from seaping through any gap....uh apparently not.

I just tried laying down a layer of resin and it leaked almost immediately. I had probably a good 1/4 to a 1/3 of a cup of resin literally leaking all over my work table (thank god i put down some wax paper to work on beforehand). On top of this I just ran out of rubber gloves so I was working with just one glove.

I managed to salvage the resin by pouring the resin that I poured on the glass back into the cup (for the most part) and then poured out a whole tray of molds. Of course I wasn't prepared for that so I just put random crap in the molds and now I feel like I wasted so much resin!!!!!!!!

Cry My boyfriend says that's how you learn, and I know he's right but it doesn't make me feel any better. The only thing I can hope for now is that the resin turns out correctly (non-tacky, etc) and that there's at least one or two decent pieces out of all the crap I threw in there.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.....

Ok, end rant.
