11  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 96 ENTRIES / Spoolman here to Save the Day! on: March 04, 2014 04:35:59 AM
I made this little Spoolman figure for A2K in the most recent round of the OWS101. Here's the gallery where it should be popping up soon. Now if you know A2K, you know that she is a prolific sewer and is a wizard with a sewing machine. So in her honor I made this little figure that is made up of a wooden spool, thimble, darning needle, bobbin and a darning egg (I didn't even know that's what it was until A2K told me when she received the package!), with the addition of a bit of clay and wire. Oh even the shoelaces are made from a bit of sewing thread too!

He is quite the jaunty little fellow  Cheesy
12  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / Ugly Holiday Sweater on: November 02, 2013 08:15:55 PM
I know the traditional holiday challenge is gingerbread houses and variations thereof, but I think it would be absolutely fantastic if we did an ugly holiday sweater challenge, open to any article of clothing. The tackier and creative the better!
13  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Natural Spirit Weaving on: October 12, 2013 04:58:14 AM
I made this for the recent Assemblage Swap for Wulf. I wasn't instantly inclined to do something more nature-inspired but this definitely pushed me to really think of what I was making and approached it differently than I normally would. I did include a few bits of rusty metal but I think it compliments it well. And I have completely fallen in love with natural stick weaving!!

The idea of this swap is to make one awesome piece of assemblage art for your partner. What is assemblage art you asked? It is any art that uses found objects to create an intriguing and inspiring composition. The found objects you choose to incorporate are completely up to you! The options are endless!

We will not be listing themes for this swap in order to give everyone some artistic license in making their piece of art. Please be open to wherever the muse takes your partner and give yourself freedom to play and create ART!!

Also please make sure that your piece is wrapped with care for transit, bubble wrap is our friend!!

Here are some inspiring posts I found on craftster and around the web to get your creative juices flowing:

16  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Texture explorations on: August 11, 2013 09:57:09 AM

Craftster is the one place I can go to where I am only greeted with encouragement and enthusiasm for trying new things and playing with new techniques. I am obsessed with texture and the sort of textural effects I can make with mixed media art and mediums. I decided to make a little triptych as an homage to this ongoing discovery. Among the mediums used, there is gesso, acrylic paint, alcohol inks, stamping on tissue paper, texture medium, pouring medium, etc etc etc!

17  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Craftster Means Sharing my Nerd! Game of Thrones yeah!! on: August 10, 2013 12:03:35 PM
Beyond being a beautiful refuge where all my crafty friends are, craftster is a place I can go to share my geek and get excited about fandoms and shows with like-minded individuals.

In addition to this, I would never have discovered the amazing artist Teesha Moore without craftster and have taken her tutorials and turned them into something that is inspired by her but completely and wholly me.  Cheesy

My latest and greatest: An homage to Game of Thrones!!!

And tons of detail pictures...

And I love teaching myself new things like installing new purse closures!!

18  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Bag Explosion!! Crafty themed, spooky, and a bunch of randomness [pic heavy] on: July 23, 2013 06:15:49 AM
After making a customized bag for the awesome Jennieingram I got a random urge to keep making patches and went a little crazy. I think I got to about 115+ individual patches before I decided to start piecing bags together...well that and my fabric buckets were bursting at the seams with finished patches. It was very liberating to let my imagination wander and go crazy with it. Here's a bunch of finished bags, a few with specific themes and a bunch without. I also used some hand screen printed fabrics I received in the recent Printed Fabric swap, and installed magnetic buttons for the first time successfully!

The crafty theme, how could I have not done this before??

A second crafty bag, a little smaller, a little cuter?

Something a little spooky, all sorts of creepy type inspiration.

A bunch of random bags...

Hopefully I didn't just crash your computer.  Roll Eyes Enjoy!
19  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Assemblage Art swap - signup posted now! on: July 18, 2013 05:32:54 AM
I'm just curious if there might be any interest in an Assemblage art swap. One medium, one month to craft and send...thoughts? Here are some awesome examples around craftster...

20  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Doctor Who bag, a new generation on: July 12, 2013 04:23:36 AM
I was asked by a really nice lady to make a Doctor Who bag for her daughter's birthday and how could I say no? I decided to include some new patches that make reference to some of the older seasons, and also to the newest!
