Wow, it's been about 3 hours since I've taken any meds and I'm actually starting to feel human again. Being sick sucks.

I found a little extra time tonight and made up some more stamps for my shop for fun.  Smiley Sadly I think I need a new black ink pad since mine seems to be drying up.

Ok I can't wait any more. I'm still not 100% done but I have enough that I want to show off  Grin

Behold the curio!

So freaking cute !! imho. I'm still waiting for the perfect pieces to fill in a few spots but I might just hang it up in the interim just to gaze at the cuteness. Here's a few close-ups:

Each square is about 2" around; the mushrooms are TINY (polyclay fresh from the oven)! And that mini birdcage was a total SCORE!! I want to make or find something to hang off the adorable hanger on the bottom I got from Phizzy, not sure what yet.

BTW I have another box just like this that I could make for someone if anyone has a hankering for adorable whimsies. It wouldn't be exactly the same, but I do have more birds/nests, another baby shoe, etc.

Also anyone that wants to destash some cute whimsies I'd be up for claiming some!  Grin

Edit: Love! Thanks so much but A2K snagged me first  Wink I'm super excited about the shirts I claimed from you!

693  Re: Altered Journal-a-long in Craftalongs by sheepBlue on: March 18, 2010 05:23:48 PM
Hey guys! I've been stalking this thread off and on forever it seems and have been meaning to start my own altered journal for at least a year if not more. So I finally got off my butt and did it; starting something is always the hardest part for me - now I can't stop! haha.

Here's my first couple of pages, all still kind of feel like a work in progress, but as I'm inspired I add little bits here and there. I think my favorite page so far is the witch silhouette page. I love this because its such a short term/long term project so I can pick it up and put it down whenever I need or want to.

And all the pages here are so awesome!  Smiley I plan to start using some of the themes as a starting point soon - none of my pages really had a theme to start with and just evolved - the first page is my inspiration muse  Cheesy I still need to come up with something for the inside cover. I just covered it with some paint so far...

Bah. I just noticed that craftster resized my images. Maybe next time I'll do each page separately so it can be a little bigger to show off the detail.

OMG - Freestyle must have spun her fingers to the bone to put together this package for me!!!! I am so overwhelmed with everything and it is all so customized and just perfect  Grin

Here's a picture of everything splayed all over my living room floor hehe.

The piece de la resistance!!! Tons of handspun!!! I asked freestyle for this because I love her color choices and combos; there are going to be a lot of really happy people around xmas this year  Cheesy She was so sweet to wind most of it for me since I kind of have issues keeping the yarn untangled when trying to wind it by hand myself lol. The unwound ones are smaller art yarns that I'm going to have fun incorporating it into my artwork  Smiley Also just a small note: in the first picture the peacock colored one (called calypso - so appropriate! middle bottom row) actually has two balls - the other one was hiding under my leg not wanting to get his picture taken LOL

2 beautiful prints of a photograph freestyle took herself, a fun notepad, a couple of books that I'm looking forward to reading including the Alice in wonderland classic books  Cheesy (I'm totally going to scan the pictures so I can use them in my art!!), fun marbled papers, joss paper from the LV trip (I think?)

A pair of awesome oversized teapcups  Grin Grin I am not a fan of the regular size teacups because I always finish my tea way too fast and have to go fill up again - but not with these babies  Cheesy I LOVE the raven designs on these. Each cup has the raven on one side with the tree on the other, and the saucers have the raven on it again.

Here's an awesome papermaking book (I LURV handmade paper), really beautiful papers, and a vintage magazine with the most hilarious ads. I have to share some with you guys. You can count on me using this in my papercrafting. I can't bear to cut it but I'll be scanning almost every page  Grin Grin Grin Hopefully you can make out the text - one is a Ex-Lax ad, another one for a Prince Albert  Cheesy Its referring to a smoking pipe or tobacco (?) but the looks on their faces and the meaning that PA has now....well....hehehe...

Super cute stitch markers which I totally need! My favorite are the fruit and veggie ones  Cheesy

Freestyle also included some fun whimsies  Grin She is one of the reigning queens of whimsy after all. I already have plans for some of the tiny wonders.  Smiley The second picture is of my favorites.

Also some gorgeous pendants that are either going to be worn by me or made into gifts  Cheesy I am so armed and loaded for xmas this year.

She never even hinted to this but freestyle made me a measuring tape bracelet!!! which I have wanted forever. I love it so much and am wearing it right now.

And last but certainly not least, she made me funky fun punctuation earrings!! My favorites are the question marks hehe..I do say "huh" and "what" a lot which makes it more appropriate - I might have to wear them to work tomorrow. I'm sure my coworker will get a good laugh out of them hehe. I almost didn't put up the last picture, but it is my best posed question face...eh, I'm no model LOL, but I love those earrings  Grin

Freestyle, you are amazing and wonderful and a new awesome friend! I enjoyed so much PMing back and forth and am sad now that our swap is done lol. We'll totally have to do this again. And crafting in Chicago!!! I can't wait to meet you in person. Thank you so so much!  Cheesy

I had an incredibly long day and when I finally got to come home I was greeted by the best package from A2K!!!

Upon opening the box I found a whole horde of goodies  Grin Grin Grin wrapped in awesome papers hehe. You can bet I'll be reusing those in my art.

The first thing I opened was the little tin filled with candies and a little note  Smiley How did you know what I was thinking A2K?  Wink

The next thing I opened was these cool books  Cheesy The happy bunny one is hilarious and has stickers that I'm going to put everywhere lol (much to the dismay of my boyfriend I'm sure). The other one is a ton!!!!!!!! of artwork that is PERFECT for using in my altered art stuff. I actually was debating cutting up my art history textbook for all the awesome pictures and now I won't have to  Grin

After that I opened a bag that had these babies in them  Cheesy I asked A2K if she would be up to making a pair for my sister for xmas and she totally came through!!!! They are so darn cute! I am almost tempted to keep them for myself...

But wait! I got some too!!!  Grin Grin I was shocked to find these because A2K had mentioned before how knitting those mitts were not exactly what she would call fun. How on earth did you find the strength to make 2 pairs?? I almost wish it wasn't warming up yet so I could wear them (notice I said almost lol), but I think they'll have to sit out for a while so I can keep admiring them  Grin

I also got some of her famous socks!! I love the color combos and they're keeping my feet toasty warm right now as I type.

She made me a really fun cabled scarf that is perfect now for more springy weather. I love the red with the flecks of blues in it - don't mind the picture. I just got home and am trying not to look too tired.

Also included in the package were these coiled bowls !! I'm totally going to keep some project yarns in them since my collection is starting to grow exponentially (and even more so after freestyle's package I'm sure lol). A cigar box for altering  Cheesy though its so pretty in its own way I'm not sure I'll be able to bear it. And some handspun!!! It's so pretty - I LOVE purple and blues and greens combined and this has all of that. Is it your own A2K??? Its so lucious and soft. I can see why so many people like to pet and touch their yarns - its like a new family pet hehe.

And last but certainly not least, I found these incredible books in the bottom of the box! I've been on such an altered art kick lately and these are perfect inspiration for me. One of them shows all kinds of ways to make neat little pockets and flaps and movable parts which I haven't forayed into much but have always admired. And the other book is about creating an altered journal, something I've always loved and wanted to do. I even have the journal to start with but never quite got started on it - so now I can!  Grin

Tonya you have firmly rocked my socks (as well as knitted them  Wink). I am going to treasure the stuff you sent to me for a long time and will never forget you!!! I will have to make sure I let you know what my sister thinks too - she is going to die after seeing those mitts  Grin Thank you thank you thank you!!!

700  Embroidery felt art in Needlework: Completed Projects by sheepBlue on: March 07, 2010 07:59:12 PM
It's been a long time since I dabbled in any embroidery so my recent attempts have been a little rusty, but I really love how they turned out. Also a great way to use up some of my stash  Cheesy

I'd love to hear any thoughts  Smiley
