21  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Chocolate and dots purse on: November 09, 2008 12:52:49 PM
I really like how this bag turned out.  The half circle on the front and back is a pocket for cell phone, etc.

Front (excuse the yellow tone, still working on the photography and lighting.)

Inside (also has pockets on the inside though you can't see them.)

22  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Hot pink Kitty tote on: November 09, 2008 10:40:58 AM
I made this for my daughter to hopefully replace the ginormous backpack she insists on toting to school.  She had a say in the design hence the rainbow letters and black kitty like ours.  I even added a zipper pocket inside, my first zipper in YEARS!  Thanks to SewPixie's zipper pocket tutorial it was super easy.

Here's the front with kitty and letters appliqued.  (Excuse my non-perfect embroidery.)

23  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / little bird purse on: October 21, 2008 06:03:30 AM
Cute little bird purse with pockets on the front and back (the dark purple area) for cell phone or whatnot.  Birdie still needs an eye, I forgot it.  Not sure if I want to use a seed bead, button, or just embroider it.  The pics are a little funky from the pattern on the fabric.

Do you think it looks to "country"?  'Cause that's not what I was going for.

My mom made this vest in the early 90's, while I've always loved the design on the back it was a little big/boxy for me.  So it's been hanging around the closet waiting for the day it would blossom into a tote bag.  Now it's quite useful and may never be banished to the back of the closet again.  I've never posted pictures before, hope I can figure it out.

25  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / I want a heavy-duty machine! (first post) on: October 07, 2008 06:02:42 AM
Hello everyone, this is my first post.  Um, does anyone else find that there's so much to look at here that you forget to post?

Anyway, I'm looking for a decent machine that actually sewing through heavier fabrics, is that too much to ask?  Should I go vintage or bite the bullet and get a mega machine?  I have a cheapy Brother machine that definitely doesn't get the job done.  I've been scouring craigslist hoping for a deal.  There's an Elna 6003 and a Pfaff Hobbymatic 927 (definitely an older model) any experience with those?

Thanks a bunch!!   Wink
