This is my second go at the Oatmeal Pullover http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/oatmeal-pullover

It's a great pattern - knit from the neck down and in the round. It would be a great first jumper pattern as it knits up really quickly too. I made some changes to the neckline as I wanted it to be a bit narrower. I used Wendy Chunky Skye, a mix of Polyester, Acrylic and Kid Mohair. Another recent project - the short-sleeved sweater Rosa by Kim Hargreaves from her book Thrown Together.

I'm sooo please with the finished sweater (lumpy sewn together seams aside...) which took from the start of September to the end of December 2010, with some other projects in between to break things up.

Hello! I've not posted any projects for a while, but have been busy knitting away...This winter I was keen to knit this hooded scarf;





I found this pattern for the Little Red Riding Snood http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-red-riding-snood on Ravelry and it was perfect for me. It's basically a long scarf which widens out to make a hood, so you can wear it as a big scarf too. I much preferred this to some of the other hoods or snoods I've seen and it's soooooo cosy!

It's a great pattern but they took nearly 2 months to knit, by which stage I was so desperate to start wearing them. The wool is Artesano Alpaca.

Basic Peekaboo Mitten pattern by Pensive Frog with button eyes...suitable for a big child!

I'm so relieved to have this finished!  :DIt was my second attempt as the first time I knit it, it was smaller than I expected, so I ripped the whole thing out (this was heart-breaking!) and put in an extra section so there were 5 instead of 4 parts and added a few extra rows:



I am really pleased with it now though as it fits exactly how I wanted- hooray!

I was wondering what's the most disappointing experience people have had with knitting? Have you finished an item to discover it really wasn't what you expected?

I have just knitted  a beautiful pattern for a beret with some lovely and expensive wool, only to find out it knitted up so small it looked really stupid.


As I knew I would never wear it I decided to rip the whole thing out as at least then I could use the wool again but I was so disappointed to have to do it!

The finished item looked so good, apart from the super-small size (and I have a small head!) and I don't have any younger friends or relatives who I could have passed it on to. *Sigh*

So - these gloves were my first experiment with knitting on dpn's and using cables (this is also my first time posting a finished project here...)





I know the left one looks a bit crappy, but it was the first one I knit. I've still got wool left so I might knit it again at some point. Pattern was from a knitting pull-out in The Guardian newspaper a few months ago.

Incidentally I'm now hooked on circular knitting. Despite all the pain I had getting started with it - knitting, ripping out, re-knitting, I now really enjoy it circular knitting. Would have been a lot easier if I had been able to find someone to actually show me but I had to cobble things together through reading knitting books and perservering. I was really surprised that people who I considered to be more experienced knitters (including my mum) had never tried it!
