1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Slightly lopsided cupcake stand on: August 24, 2008 05:03:21 PM

Ok, so it's a bit weird looking because my future son in law did the cross pieces and he just could not get it to work out right.  It also looks more lopsided than it should because I just slapped it together on top of my grandbaby's little table.  I'll do some fine tuning with hot glue a little later.

Anyway, it's just a $12 piece of 4x8 hardwood plywood bought from lowes.  We had them cut the squares to our measurements (should have had them do the crosspiece strips too but oh well), a square wood dowel, little bit of craft paint, glued ribbon to two edges and lace to two other edges.  Total cost was about $18.

Oh, and those roses on top are coffee filter roses I made stuck into a styrofoam block.

So tell me, Craftsters, how bad does it look?
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My daughter's schizophrenic dresser on: August 08, 2008 10:19:31 PM
My step daughters (11 and 14) were here over the summer and kept whining they were bored.  Well there were two dressers out in the shed that the landlord said we could have and since they needed them I thought hey, let em' at it.  I still have to put the drawers in on oldest sd's dresser, but here are before and after pics of the younger's dresser.

Younger sanding hers down, no drawers

Both dressers outside being "prepped"

younger's finished

Older's painted black, without the drawers

The Older has painted her drawers neon pink and neon orange.  She still needs to put another coat on though so that's why the drawers aren't in yet.  What do you think so far?
3  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Another new person here! on: August 08, 2008 09:34:31 PM
Ok, so I think I've lurked this board for 2 years and just got around to registering tonight.  I think it took so long because I see all the beautiful stuff that everyone here makes and think to myself "I'd never be able to do something that cool".  But my daughter is getting married at the end of this month and it's a very DIY wedding and I just so happened to get some of the ideas from here.  I figured I'd better register so I can show YOUR ideas in action lol.

Oh yeah, I knit, crochet, sew, glue myself to the table, the whole nine yards.  Jack of all trades, master of none!
