3  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Tie Dye sweatpants help on: August 04, 2009 05:40:55 PM
I am the president of my youth group. We have sweatpants that everyone bought. Me and the rest of my board decided it would be cool to dye the sweatpants so ours are different than the rest of the youth groups.

The sweatpants are 50% cotton/50% polyester.
I have heard that this will not hold dye well.
Are there specially made dyes or techniques that will work?

The sweatpants are a very very light grey color.
We would definitely like the sweatpants as bright as possible.

Thank you so much for your help.

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first piece of clothing! on: June 11, 2009 06:20:59 AM
This is the first piece of clothing I have ever knitted.
Usually I just knit hats and scarves.
I knit a tank top (pattern can be found on Ravelry) in a beautiful periwinkle color.
I was a little nervous about how it would fit but I LOVE how it turned out.
Now for the pictures.

Thanks for looking.
It was a really fun project!
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Help with Graduation Gift on: May 17, 2009 12:42:56 PM
Hi. I need to make/buy a graduation gift for someone. I will be giving it to her May 30 so it needs to be something quick and easy.

Her name is Liz. She is 18 and graduating from High school. She lives in Clifton, VA.
I met Liz at NFTY, a jewish youth organization. We have known each other for a couple of years and now are really close friends. I live in northern MD so we are a little over 2 hours apart.
She is going to George Mason University which is about 10 minutes from her house.
She listens to any and all music, is very involved in her Judaism, and just loves to have fun.
For Valentines Day, I made her a scarf and for her birthday I made her candles. I don't know whether I should craft her something (or if I will have enough time) or if I should just buy her something.

I have NO idea what to get her!!!
Any and all help is appreciated.
7  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Baby items Knitalong on: February 22, 2009 10:48:28 AM
Hi all!
I think it would be fun to knit all sorts of different baby items and see what everyone comes up with. You can knit anything from hats, blankets, and booties to toys, and mobiles.
Knit whatever comes to mind.
Feel free to knit multiple items.

I will be starting with http://www.straw.com/cpy/patterns/baby-child/bamboozle-babyset-hat.html
