21  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: Need to Make ~50 Valentines! AHHH Help on: January 11, 2005 09:14:01 PM
thank you all for the great ideas

i am officially done with all 50 valentines and will post pics when i have some time to take them!

i ended up doing the bookmark valentine. i got all kinds of v-day stamps at ac moore for 60 cents!! i also used some foamy hearts and some other cute stuff-- not the pinnacle of my creativity but i was going for mass production-- not impressiveness!!

^ i like the extra effort with the string and all and will prob do it in the future

the way this swap is working is that we're to make 50 v-day cards and send them with a self addresses & pre paid priority envelope to the girl coordinating it. when everyone sends their cards, she'll distribute all the different 50 into our seperate envelopes and drop them in the mail. that way we get 50 valentines all at one time without having to worry about shipping each one individually

i've never done a message board swap before (too scared to do a crafster one since i'm not THAT crafty!) so i've excited to see how it pans out

i thought about doing something with a rubber stamp

i am thinking of making a bookmark/magnet so that if whoever gets it doesn't read they can at least stick it on the fridge

i was thinking of getting some red cardstock, cutting it into strips and stamping it and making it generally cute then get some of that sticky magnet stuff for $1 and come change and affix it to the back

if it turns out good i'll post pics

24  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Need to Make ~50 Valentines! AHHH Help on: January 08, 2005 08:51:49 PM
Ok crafsters here is my dilemma

I am doing a valentine card exchange at another message board and need to come up with 50 valentines! (everyone who signs up gets one-- thats how they do it there, don't ask)

they don't all need to be from scratch, in fact i don't even need ideas of what to put on/in the cards but i need an idea of how to produce about 50 cards without spending a ton of money! and also i need to be able to achieve it in a decent amount of time because we have to mail our cards out on feb 1

crafsters, i am counting on you!

26  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Toilet lid art! on: May 31, 2004 07:56:32 PM
if you want to do this in an apt or in your house and don't want to ruin the lid try this...

get something to go on top of the lid to decorate. what you get is up to you (plexiglass or something that can be cut to fit) then decorate how you like

affix velcro on the new 'faux' lid and on the actual lid

velcro off and on as you please and the sticky stuff that holds the velcro on can come right off when you want to move or if you get sick of the design you can just pop another one on without any trouble

you can even go all out on holidays and make one fo each and every one of them

velrco is awesome
27  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: recycling bins for mom on: May 31, 2004 07:51:00 PM
I didn't read through the entire thread but once the sharpie problem came up i immediately thought of a solution

to keep the sharpie work from going gross overtime, you could draw your design like usual then take it over to kinkos and get it color copied (twice)

then you can file both the original and copied design in case mom spilled some crap on the paper and ruined it or something happened to the copied design.

also the copy would look just as it did they day you made it  Grin

you could also use your copy to make some cool bins for other people

29  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / FREE Slides on: May 15, 2004 09:05:39 AM
I'm in the co-ed business fraternity on campus and we recently cleaned out our office. I found dozens (possibly hundreds) of slides. We used to take pics of the rushees and have them made into slides and we would project them so everyone could see the rushees. Now, we have a digital camera and the slides are totally worthless. We were going to throw them away but my crafty brain thought of crafster! I don't want to craft with them but I am sure there are plenty of you who would. The slides are all of people, either individual or in small groups.

I'd like to send them all to one person so shipping costs would be lower. I would ship them for free, all I ask is that you donate some $$ to crafster! So let me know if you're interested!
