1  Re: Journal Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by slide338 on: April 28, 2009 03:00:45 PM
EDIT: Sorry about the pictures, I'm working on it.

It might be hard to see, but the white paper actually has braille on it- awesome! And on top, there are hands doing different alphabet signs- CcLewis05.

This one is also by CcLewis05. There's a woman with a sombrero surrounded by cool colorful little papery things. There's also a poem or a song underneath in Spanish.

This one was done by Karmellah- it's entitled "Our Speak"- her husband and her's lingo- which is a type of language, just not one that's spoken around the world  Wink Very cute!

These next two were done by JadedJenn- the first one has a bunch of Japanese phrases and some cool 3D Japanese things (a kimono, sandals, etc). The red one has love written in a bunch of different languages and a 3D 'LOVE' add on.

Thanks everyone, I love it!  Smiley

2  Re: Small Destash Swap Round 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by slide338 on: April 09, 2009 09:54:20 AM
Hey, I received Camelama's package in the mail today- and WOW she managed to fit a lot of stuff in that box!

Here's everything- needless to say, I like the color blue.

I'm in college, and she really catered to that. The striped bag on the bottom is a laundry bag (a lot more attractive than the boring gray one that I use now...)
The two hangers are for organizing- one of them has clothespins attached... and the other has a zipper on the fabric to keep stuff in.

Here are some cards... the green one on the right has a little note that she wrote, and inside that card I found two postcards (in the middle and on the left). They both have cute cats on them, plus they're in French (and I love French, so that's just awesome Wink )

Here are some scented little pouches that I'll probably keep in my clothes drawers to keep my clothes smelling good  Smiley I love the fabric, especially the skull and crossbones/nautical stuff! Where'd you find it?

Annnnd she also sent me some beads  Smiley

And of course... sweets are always good  Wink I wrote in my survey that I loved soda, and she included some cute little soda gummies! I'm actually eating them now...

Thanks so much Camelama! You definitely spoiled me here. My package isn't exactly up to par compared to this one, but I hope that you still enjoy it nonetheless!  Undecided Smiley

3  Splatter painted nightstand (image heavy) in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by slide338 on: February 21, 2009 08:49:29 PM
I knew that my dorm room was going to be ugly and boring before I even got to school... SO, one night last August, before I left, I found this old white nightstand in my basement and decided to change it up a bit, just to add something different to my otherwise bland room.

(The neighborhood kids looked at me like I was crazy as I was doing this... I was running around my front lawn splattering green paint everywhere... really, what's wrong with that? I didn't get any on them...)

Right side:

Left side:

Front on, minus the drawers:

Red drawer: (I know the drawers look skewed... I took the pictures from a weird angle)

Blue drawer:

Here's what it looks like all put together: (I cropped out the rest of my dorm room because... it's a mess)

I like it, for the most part. With splatters you never can really know just how it's going to turn out...

The only thing is... when I was splattering the green and then the red, my brush was dry. For the blue, it wasn't as dry as I had thought, and that definitely changed the way the paint looks (I don't know if you can tell that from these pictures, however). It didn't necessarially change it in a bad way, but it's not consistent with the other colors.
Also, it was difficult to get the green up towards the top of that little... alcove thing. You can't really notice it though, unless you're looking at it straight on, two feet off the ground.

What do you think? Smiley

5  It's Raining Men! (...and freezer paper) in Stenciling: Completed Projects by slide338 on: August 08, 2008 07:56:01 PM
This is the second shirt that I've made using freezer paper/printed off designs. I was looking through stencils at Stencilry (http://www.kittybuttons.com/wordpress/) and found this stencil (http://www.kittybuttons.com/stencils/categories/artwork/raining-men-hallelujah.jpg), which seemed pretty easy.

This is the shirt on the table...

And here it is on...

Some of the lines could've come out a bit crisper... but overall I don't think it's too bad for a 2nd try.
