1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / good crochet books? "cozy crochet"? on: September 12, 2004 10:21:36 PM
i'm a knitter, but venturing into crochet because there are so many cute projects i want to try!
does anyone have any recommendations for crochet books with non-cheesy projects?

i pre-ordered "cozy crochet" [url]http://www.chroniclebooks.com/Chronicle/servlet/at/go(bookRecord,0811840794)[/url, with designs by melissa leapman who also wrote "knitting pretty".  anyone hear/know anything about it? is it worth it?

BONUS! if you look up "knitting pretty" on the chronicle books site and click on excerpts, there are links to 3 or 4 knitting projects!

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / yarn from japan on: March 26, 2004 02:01:34 AM
i'm going to take a trip to japan this summer and i'm trying to do some research before i go. anyone know of any good yarn stores/brands to look out for? i know they have oodles of great stuff that we don't have here, but the only that we see is noro yarn.

i just read an article in a knitting mag (don't remember which one) and took some notes. i'm so excited!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / reeeeally fine yarn. what to do with it? on: March 12, 2004 09:24:31 AM
i got my hands on some really great merino wool yarn, but it's reeeeally fine. like embroidery floss. i would use it to embroider, but i have several hundred yards of it and don't want to see it go to waste.  i think it was meant for a knitting machine, which i don't have.

the colors are great, i was thinking i could pair is with another, thicker yarn and knit them together, but other wise, i don't know what to do with it. Sad
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / pass-thru scarf on: February 27, 2004 11:16:21 AM
my first foray into tassel-making AND cables! i really eat the way it turned out and now i wish i had invested in some nicer yarn. Sad next time.  i eat this stuff even though it's an acrylic blend. the speckles make it look like jawbreakers.
