1  Apron for Housewife Costume in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by allnaturalpam on: October 29, 2010 08:46:15 PM
This year for Halloween I decided I wanted to be a 50's Housewife. I bought a dress that will work, but knew I would need an apron to go over top of it. I was going to follow one of the tutorials here, but when I was looking for material to make the apron out of, I stumbled across a piece in my stash that already had lace around it, so I improvised. The piece had some holes, so I patched them with hearts. I'm still technically a beginner, although I've been sewing for over a year, it's been really off and on. So here goes...

i made the ties long enough so they can tie in a bow behind my back.

the hearts are handsewn on, and not well... i just wanted to cover holes.

luckily i had lace in my stash to put around the pockets. i thought it felt more homey.

2  Easy little business card holder/wallet in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by allnaturalpam on: February 17, 2009 06:23:47 PM
I was bored this morning, so while my boyfriend slept i had a random bout of creativity. his business card holder was sitting on his desk, and i always get frustrated with organizing my business cards, so i decided to make my own.

closed...

when opened (ignore my business cards lol).

the back when opened.

i used flannel, and ended up bending my needle. i do like the finished look though. this is only my second week of sewing so i think it came out pretty well. i measured the boyfriend's business card holder and used it to draft a pattern. one side has one pocket and the other has two. it would also make a cute little credit card wallet, especially if you used something like velcro to hold it together.

3  Re: Easy Peasy Snap wallets - I'm so addicted! - TUTORIAL + SNAP TUTORIAL in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by allnaturalpam on: February 16, 2009 05:02:04 PM
i just made this tonight. i used velcro instead of snaps (because i've only been sewing for about a week now). i think it came out pretty adorable.

the fabric is some my mom bought at the thrift store because she knew i liked strawberries. Smiley

~pam <~~~will make tons more of these

4  My first purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by allnaturalpam on: February 14, 2009 08:14:00 AM
I just got my sewing machine monday (it was a Christmas present lol). For my first project I wanted to make something small, because I didn't buy a lot of fabric, so I decided to make the jordy bag.

i didn't use interfacing, because i didn't buy any, so it's a little floppy, but i think it came out pretty well since i had never really sewn anything.

5  Dolphin Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by allnaturalpam on: February 14, 2009 08:09:18 AM
I was at the dollar tree yesterday and stumbled across a cute little dolphin placemat. I thought it would make a really cute bag....

It's a little wonky, but it's only the second thing i've ever made. The inside fabric was in the remnants bin at walmart. I like it, and since it was a placemat, I didn't need to get interfacing because it's pretty sturdy as is.

here's the placemat after ripping it apart with the seam ripper.

6  Just some random things I've made recently (a good bit of photos) in Knitting: Completed Projects by allnaturalpam on: December 31, 2008 11:56:34 AM
I've only been knitting since August, but I've already fallen in love with it. I'm having a blast making whatever random thing I can think of. These are just some of the things I've completed more recently.

I made Christmas stockings for my two coworkers, and also one for my boss and one for his wife. This one I made for my coworker who loves the color black.

I made this for my other coworker. I wasn't sure what colors to use, so i just used traditional Christmas colors.

I made this for my boss's wife, who is a very colorful person. I randomly decided to use the blue for the heel and toe, which seems to have matched the rest of the stocking perfectly. I think it makes it feel more vintage somehow, but I'm a little strange.

This was actually the first stocking that I made. This was made for my boss, who is a big UF Gators fan. I used the "striped christmas stocking" pattern from ravelry for it. I based the other stockings off of this one, but this one still came out the best. I like how uniform the stitches are, and how it looks almost professionally made.

And finally, this is my chicken. I was knitting the chicken pattern from the book "World of Knitted Toys," but read the pattern wrong somehow. I ended up making him twice as long as he should be, but I think he's really cute. Reminds me of the chickens in Zelda, Ocarina of Time.

oh, and i'm allnaturalpam on ravelry. Smiley

7  Multi-colored Jockey Cap in Knitting: Completed Projects by allnaturalpam on: November 02, 2008 08:14:08 AM
I bought the book 100 Hats to Knit & Crochet last weekend because I hadn't made a hat yet, and it's something that I was really interested in.  I'm disappointed with the book though, because it should be called Tons of Hats to Crochet, and a few you can Knit. I did find this crazy "Jockey Cap" that I thought would be interesting.  Even with needles a size higher than the pattern called for, it's a little too small.  I can put it on, but it gives me a headache if I wear it too long.  Maybe my cousin's kids would enjoy it.

The yarn is some that my Aunt sent me.  It's Red Heart, but surprisingly soft.  The hat makes me laugh, but I really like it.

8  My new little friend PJ in Knitting: Completed Projects by allnaturalpam on: September 18, 2008 08:45:00 PM

i started pj as a simple project. i actually was going to follow a pattern for a different doll, but since i had just gotten dpns and was anxious to try knitting in the round, i just kind of made her up as i went along. i didn't feel like knitting her arms or legs, so i just braided them, but i think i like the end result better than i would have with knitted arms and legs.

pj goes to work with me everyday and sits on my desk. everytime i look at her i can't help but smile. now if i would only make her some clothes lol

9  My first scarf... in Knitting: Completed Projects by allnaturalpam on: September 08, 2008 09:40:38 PM
I've only been knitting for about 2 weeks now, but I've already fallen in love with it. This is actually my second attempt at a scarf... the first one ended up being about 2 feet long and really ugly. I really like the way this one turned out. It's from random yarn I found at my mom's house, and more random yarn she got me from my grandma's house lol
