14  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Mrs. Potatohead on: November 14, 2010 03:11:00 PM
My SO's cousin asked me to help her make a Mrs. Potatohead costume a couple of weeks before Halloween to go out with some family as characters from Toy Story. This costume was quite the adventure, we had to change how it was going to look a couple of times and at point was afraid it wasn't going to fit.

She asked for my help because the other options looked like this:

We used items from the actual Mrs. Potatohead (yellow hat) and the one from Toy Story (pearly earrings) just depending on what was easier.

We took a a clown hat from Joann's tore off the rainbow band, covered it in yellow felt then reattached the flower.

This is the cutest Nephew every modeling the hat, pearls and gloves.

Night of Halloween

Taking the boys trick or treating

The costume slipped over her head and there was a slit down the neck with a tie to keep it closed.  the facial features and ears are filled with fiber fill and attached separately to look like the detachable and attachable pieces Mrs. Potatohead comes with. It turned out so much cuter than I ever thought it would be.

uuuugggghhh... Im soooooo jealous! I luv hello kitty!!! I love the print you did. I so want to get into silk screening, but alas set up can be very expensive  Undecided

The tank is for sale and i have it on a cute pink t shirt if you want sleeves, i just haven't taken great pics yet so its not on my Etsy yet. I took the class at my local community college, i'm really the only fashion person, everyone else is in the printing business but it only cost me the credits and a 15 dollar fee, but i had full access to tons of colors and a great set up. I couldn't set up screen printing in my apartment and definately can't afford all of the equipment i have access to there.

Just some pictures from a 2 color job I did last semester in school:

Close up!

The shirt is purple but the day was over cast. I printed the pattern around the shirt so it goes all the way around.

I printed this on yellow and this salmon color. i didn't think I would like the print on this color but it turned out so much nicer than I thought.

C & C always welcome!
