1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Totoro mends broken hearts <3 on: October 16, 2008 08:57:16 AM
Heyla everyone,

I made a totoro using T4124's tutorial (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=215459.msg2317887#msg2317887)
for a friend of mine who recently found out his boyfriend was a jerk.

He's a big fan of My Neighbor Totoro, and when I saw the tute I knew he would be a perfect "feel better!" present.

I took pics before I put the little upside down V's on his chest, so he's slightly naked here:

He's completely made out of felt.
I put his arms on with a doll-arm stitch, so he can be posed different ways, as you can see he's quite the ham.
I've been told he's gracing my friend's cubicle at work Cheesy
2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Summer dress/nightgown from a wall hanging (Pics updated) on: September 18, 2008 03:03:51 PM
So, today started out a bit stressful, and as I'm sure most of you know, the best way to beat stress is to make something fun.

So I took an old wall hanging that I had found (someone threw it into a dumpster, I rescued it and washed it several times) that had a few holes in it here and there, and that I no longer felt like hanging up on the wall..

and hung it on me Cheesy

No pattern- the design is basically an A shape with the top chopped off, then fitted slightly at the back with pleats. Then I made and added straps, et voila!
Now I have something to wear when I'm fresh from the shower, or lazy and warm, or sleepy and warm.
I might at some point dye it a darker purple, we shall see.

Thanks for looking!

3  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Hallo from Madison, wisc :D on: September 06, 2008 02:48:13 PM
Heyla everyone,

My name's Andrea, though most of my friends call me Aurora, Rora for short.
There's a long confusing reason for it, but i'm not going to segueway right now (i'll do that often enough in the posts to come, I'm sure).

I moved to Madison in '07, and I don't know many people here yet.
I'm 28 as of Sept 2, I'm short, ecclectic, and generally easy going.
I like to sew, draw, paint, bead, chase my cat around the house, watch my cat chase her own tail and fetch jingly balls, and I'm currently trying to post my first 10 so I can get the picture-goodness out there Smiley

I love this site, and I think everyone on it is terribly talented, or at least, having a lot of fun.
