1  Re: Post Photos of Your Tattoos! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by Raventhistle on: March 03, 2009 10:07:30 AM
The one on the left is my best friend Meg, and I'm on the right.

I sketched out the kitties and then tailored them to each of us.
Meg is my sister from another mother, and before I moved out of state we decided to get similar tattoos. All because of what happened when we first moved into an Apt together.

I'd been wanting my own indoor kitty for forever. My dad never wanted an indoor cat, and claimed that i wouldn't take care of it if we had one. Having grown up with cats around me (I lived with Mom until she passed away, and the kitty I brought with me to Dad's didn't last long as an outdoor cat) I found his opinion to be rather funny. So of course, upon moving out and starting college, the first thing I wanted was a cat. We'd only planned on getting one, for me.

So we went to all the pet shops in town.
I had wanted a black and white, because of one I'd had before who had been my shoulder cat, and hadn't found one until the last shop we went to.
I asked the pet shop guy to pull her out for me, and while I was holding her, Meg asked to hold a little black one. Mirya (my kitty) was very skittish.

I looked at Meg and said "I Don't know, what do you think?"
She looked at me and said "You do whatever you want. This one's mine!"
And so we went home with two instead of one.

Sebastian has a small white fluff on his belly, and pumpkin colored eyes.
Mirya has the face mask and a few white splotches, and yellow-green eyes.
Meg wanted her stars a little different, so she has the crescent moon.
The stars themselves were freehanded by the tattoo artist.
We got them in Marquette, Mi, by Michelle.

Now even though we're 6 hours away if I'm feeling lonely I just have to catch a glimpse of my kitty (and often my real kitty) to remember my heart-sister.
Hers is on her right shoulderblade, mine is on my left upper arm.

2  Totoro mends broken hearts <3 in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Raventhistle on: October 16, 2008 08:57:16 AM
Heyla everyone,

I made a totoro using T4124's tutorial (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=215459.msg2317887#msg2317887)
for a friend of mine who recently found out his boyfriend was a jerk.

He's a big fan of My Neighbor Totoro, and when I saw the tute I knew he would be a perfect "feel better!" present.

I took pics before I put the little upside down V's on his chest, so he's slightly naked here:

He's completely made out of felt.
I put his arms on with a doll-arm stitch, so he can be posed different ways, as you can see he's quite the ham.
I've been told he's gracing my friend's cubicle at work Cheesy

3  Summer dress/nightgown from a wall hanging (Pics updated) in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by Raventhistle on: September 18, 2008 03:03:51 PM
So, today started out a bit stressful, and as I'm sure most of you know, the best way to beat stress is to make something fun.

So I took an old wall hanging that I had found (someone threw it into a dumpster, I rescued it and washed it several times) that had a few holes in it here and there, and that I no longer felt like hanging up on the wall..

and hung it on me Cheesy

No pattern- the design is basically an A shape with the top chopped off, then fitted slightly at the back with pleats. Then I made and added straps, et voila!
Now I have something to wear when I'm fresh from the shower, or lazy and warm, or sleepy and warm.
I might at some point dye it a darker purple, we shall see.

Thanks for looking!
