3  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Monster High Swap Signups 1/27-2/12/12 SENDOUTS 3/26/12 on: January 27, 2012 05:35:49 PM

This is a 5 point swap. One item must be medium or large.

Small Item = 1 point
Med Item = 2 Points
Large Item = 3 Points

For new swappers there might be a bit of a confusion as to what is a large, medium, and small item, so here's a handy guide:

Small = By time, 2 or less hours of crafting. By $$$, $10 or less. By size, Earrings, stickers, wallets, pouches, bookmarks

Medium = By time, 2 or more hours of crafting. By $$$, $10-$30. By size, one single necklace or bracelet, a scarf

Large = By time, 3 or more hours of crafting. By $$$, $30 or more. By size, A shawl, a shirt, a skirt, a set of jewelry with four to five items, a purse

This is not totally set in stone, but is a rough estimate of sizes described by time it takes to make package, by physical size and by cost.
If you and your partner want to discuss different requirements, let that be between the two of you. We just dont want disappointment if you send an awesome package and get the minimum from your partner (even though, obviously, everything sent is going to be out of this world..haha, get it, since they go to space)

7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Summer is for Sanrio/Hello Kitty Swap on: June 10, 2011 03:57:44 PM

Hi!  I have co-organized a Hello Kitty Swap in the past and was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a Summer Sanrio Swap?
It would be a 6 point swap with sign ups from June 17th to June 30th, and sendouts on August 8th.  We had some awesome fun with this one in the past.

I would be willing to organize this,  getting a co-organizer if the number of participants exceeds 25.

Let me know what you think!

Here's some past galleries for inspiration!

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first knitted sugar skull pillow on: June 07, 2011 06:01:22 PM
I am new to knitting (less than a year) and just learned how to knit in the round with dpns.  I love it and can't stop!  I knitted this for my partner H00lie for the Dia de los Muertos swap.

I used a pattern from the Book Knit Wits that is actually supposed to be the body of a ninja.  This is a great book for a novice knitter like me.

After stuffing, I sewed on 2 fabric daisies for eyes and glued on felt and brads for the other features.  I then used fabric paints for embellishment.

Thanks for looking!
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Harry Potter Beaded Cuff on: April 04, 2011 10:02:12 PM
So my partner has received her item for the OTHPT2 swap so now I can post her Harry Potter Beaded Cuff.  It was done with size 11 delicas, and then glued on to a ultra suede backing.  The clasp is velcro and hidden when worn.

and the picture with the clasp that my partner took

I made the brick stitch pattern with the Bead tool 4.0 program.  Something I highly recommend for the serious beader.
Comments and Criticisms much appreciated!
10  COOKING / Dessert / They're two, they're four, they're six...he's seven! on: January 29, 2011 09:36:51 PM
This is the first time I have posted on this board.  I have been making cakes every so often, but this is the first time I have really done any pastiage work or painting.  My son turns seven tomorrow, and we are having a train party so he asked for a Thomas the tank engine cake.  The cake is vanilla bean with strawberry filling. The trains were drawn freehand referencing his coloring books, and painted with edible markers, and food coloring.  I'm pretty pleased with it and my son loves it.  I figure if he could recognize who was who on the cake, then I was doing okay.Comments and criticisms would be most appreciated. Smiley
Thanks
