1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: MY SEWING MACHINE STOPPED WORKING!! on: September 22, 2009 10:39:26 AM
If you have a freecycle in your area, you might try there, too. In the last year I've gotten 6 sewing machines off freecyle --some had issues but the other half was fine. I just received one 2 days ago and the owner said she couldn't use it anymore. I spent no more than 30 minutes tinkering with it and it now works great.  Oh, the ones that had issues, I freecycled with a description of the problem and those willing to give it a go took their chances with them.

Goo luck!

3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Help with Babylock 1506 Denim Buster on: September 17, 2009 01:26:05 PM
I recently received this machine and it really is a great machine and quite strong, however, it will not sew a straight stitch when I change the dial to straight.  The zigzags are great. The tension is fine. Everything is great except I can't stitch straight. I don't have the manual and can't seem to find one online so I'm hoping someone here can enlighten me.

On the plus side, my regular machine is a vintage straight stitcher only so they compliment each other but I don't have the space to have both out and the hassle of swapping machines each time I need to change stitch patterns pretty much a pain.

Can anyone help me out?  Thank you.

Sew-Classic,

I had to drive deep into the back hills of WV to get that 401 Cheesy I made my husband go with me and we got so lost he swore he would never allow another trip like that to happen again, lol

The woman who owned it was a city girl who's husband brought her into the mountains so she understood our concerns.

She is a beauty though Smiley

It's been a while since I last posted so I thought I'd post some of my recent finds.

Not sure if I have posted this one before, possibly since it's my best find ever. Here is my best find for $40. A 401A in it's 1958 beautifully finished cabinet.

Here are my most recent freecycle finds.
Babylock 1506 Denim Buster (I'm looking for a manual)

Singer Touch Tronic 2001

But with all of these machines, I still sew on this straight stitcher.

10  COOKING / Dessert / Christmas cake out of the box -- but they'll never know;) on: December 22, 2008 07:57:10 PM
My husband made a last minute request for a cake for his office. With 2 days left til Christmas, I cheated and got a box off the shelf. My 4 year old decorated it:)  Merry Christmas!
