21  Re: The Awesome Swap Gallery of the "Be Awesome" Swap in The Swap Gallery by blushingbluegrass on: March 09, 2011 02:16:35 PM
DustyChica received my package, but has been swamped with school and such, so I thought I would post the pics I took. They aren't the best.

I decided to make DustyChica a bag she could use in college, like the one I was always searching for: big enough to hold books, papers, a change of clothes and maybe a make-up bag. She mentioned her love for Harry Potter and this bag came out of that.

I hope it is loved in its new home!

23  Visit My Hometown Swap! in New Swap Theme Ideas by blushingbluegrass on: February 09, 2011 02:29:30 PM

Inspired by all the YUMMY local coffees that were swapped in the Keep Me Warm Swap I thought maybe a swap where we sent items found locally (candy, coffee, etc.) plus crafts based on the locale of our partners (a recipe book with favorite local foods, items with local symbols, and anything else we can think of!)

Any interest?

27  First Time CP soap: Help! in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by blushingbluegrass on: December 30, 2010 10:19:34 AM
Okay. I made my first CP soap yesterday using a kit put together for me by a local soap maker (such a sweet gift!).

It was made with her super secret blend of five vegetable oils, lavender and tea tree essential oils. I didn't have a stick blender so hand whisked it for about an hour (ARMS OF STEEL OVER HERE!!!) and when it (FINALLY) reached trace added my oils and put it in the molds. Her directions said to wrap it in towels and leave it in the mold for 24 hours, at which point it would be ready to cut and cure.

My question is this: When I took it out of the mold and cut it, it was still super soft and messy. Is this normal?

See my pictures for some clarification:

Any thoughts? Is this what this is supposed to look like, and I just clean it up later? Did I screw it up?

I know Edie22 has been traveling like crazy in the past few days, so I am going to go ahead and post the limited photos I have of what I sent her. Hopefully, later she can post some better ones!

Now, any one who knows anything about Edie knows that she loves Star Trek. So that was my theme!!
Star Trek t shirts, one paint stenciled, one bleach:

A Commander pillow, like one she had on her wist:

An assortment of Bath and Beauty products, Coffee Popsicle soaps, Chocolate loofah soaps, and some shower scrubbers:

And the stocking!

Not pictured are some naughty coffee cups, and the store bought goodies (candy, locally made beef jerky, yarn)

I hope everything is enjoyed in its new home!!
