My package from Quasior came on Monday, but I wasn't able to pick it up from my apartment's leasing office until yesterday.Tongue Anywho...here's what she sent me. We both like movies from Studio Ghibli, so she made me this painting of Haru, in semi-cat form, and Muta from The Cat Returns.

We agreed to send two items and one of my favorite anime series is Cowboy Bebop. So she made a necklace for me.

My camera isn't very good at taking close ups, but the pendant has a picture of Spike Spiegel, the main character.

I was very surprised to get something like this. I got to meet the English voice actor for this character a few weeks ago, so this is an added bonus. Thanks Quasior!

It would appear that life has kidnapped sinellia, so I'll post a picture of the hoop I sent her.

I was inspired by a pillow on sinellia's Pinterest that had this flower stitched on it. I couldn't get a good picture of it, but I used six strands of DMC Pearlescent Effects so the stitching has a bit of a sparkle to it. It's stitched on navy blue linen.

Details of swap:  This swap is for the Suzanne Collins series of book, The Hunger Games.  I think we all need some new crafty goodies to get ready for the movie release on March 23rd. Many of us couldn't do the big swap, so here's a second chance to get in on the fun. This is my first time organizing a swap so if I leave anything out please let me know! Please reply to this thread once a week to help me keep up with you guys. Wink I really want this to be a great swap so please dont sign up if you think you wont be able to finish it. I really dont want any flakers on my first swap.

You will be required to make 1 small item related to the Hunger Games series, so think bookmarks, small figurines, embroidery, etc. as possible items to send. For this swap, an item that is 5 inches or less in any dimension will be considered a small item and qualify as an OTT. Check out the plethora of OTT swaps in the Gallery for inspiration and ideas. Extras are not required, but if you would like to craft extras, please discuss this with your partner first. Although your item is small, it should be well crafted with attention to detail. Ask yourself, "If I got this, would I think a good effort was put into making this?" Don't sell yourself short. I know there are some great crafters here. Smiley

The size key is usually asked for, so here it is:

Large= 3 points
Medium=2 points
Small=1 point

By Time
-Large = 3 or more hours
-Medium = 2 or more hours
-Small = 2 or less hours

By Size

By Price
-Large = $30 or more
-Medium = $10-$30 dollars
-Small = $10 or less

Sign ups will be from Feb. 20 through March 3. The send out date will be March 17th, so items can arrive in time for the movie premiere.

I received from cursive_queen over the weekend and now I can post this!

I was soooo hoping that someone would choose my Lady Rainicorn theme and my wish came true. I'm moving my hoopla wall out of my bedroom and into my living room, so I can't wait to have it up there with my other hoops. Thanks so much cursive_queen.Cheesy

I just posted this hoop as a new topic on the Needleworks board:

Granted, I didn't use a ton of embroidery thread to make this, but every little bit helps, right?Cheesy

27  Swing Among the Stars in Needlework: Completed Projects by amalgam on: February 05, 2012 11:24:28 PM
I made this for rubylynns in the Round 77 Ongoing Hoopla Swap. I chose her tree swing theme.

In my head I kept thinking that the setting needed to be during the day. But, when I found this starry fabric in my stash, I quickly came to the thought, "Who says you can only be on a tree swing during the day?" So I did an image search for a girl on a tree swing and cut out the silhouette in black fabric. I free handed the tree branch and cut that out of the black fabric too.

I used thick black metallic thread for the rope of the swing. Then I just did a tiny whip stitch in black for the tree and a running stitch for the girl so the fabric wouldn't fray too much. The starry fabric is actually a bit darker than what it looks like in the picture, but overall I very happy with how it came out. Smiley

I just finished putting the hoop together for rubylynns. I was hoping to send early, but sending on time is just as good, right?Tongue I have a couple of other swaps that I'm in at the moment and I'm finishing up the hoop for sinellia, but I have a feeling that I might try to grab one last claim before the swap ends. Decisions, decisions...

Instead of double posting, I'll just modify! Wink

I've been a bad swap partner. My hoop from Averia came on Thursday and I'm just now posting. I need to not be so lazy about going to the mailbox station of my apartment complex. Tongue Anyways, here's the amazing hoop she made me.

She picked my Japanese theme and I mentioned that something done in sashiko would be nice. Sashiko is a Japanese style of embroidery. Thanks Averia and I'm sorry for making you worry.

I haven't organized my floss yet, but I am using up some of it on two projects right now: A very late Christmas present of a cartoon stegosaurus and I'm filling a Professor Layton logo entirely in french knots. Here's what I've done so far on the Professor Layton logo:

30  Alice in Wonderland Hoop in Needlework: Completed Projects by amalgam on: January 14, 2012 04:37:36 PM
I'm trying to get better at posting the projects I finish, especially if I make them for someone in a swap. So, here is the Alice in Wonderland hoop I made for bambii8899 back in September for Round 6 of the Embrodiery Hoopla Swap.

She likes the vintage drawings of Alice in Wonderland, so I traced images from a copy of the book and stitched them up. Almost all of it is done in backstitch with some satin stitching done for larger, dark areas.

One of her favorite quotes from the story is "curiouser and curiouser", so I did a image search and found the remark in this font style and stitched that up too.

No matter how much ironing I did, I could not get out those wrinkles. Tongue But in retrospect, I think it helps with the vintage look of the hoop. Smiley

I only had Iphone pictures of this hoop. Thanks bambii8899 for letting me use your pictures for my post. Grin
