Love this idea!  My nephew will be born on Black Friday and this would make a really cute Christmas gift.  I am going to opt out of the frosting and add squeak toys inside.  For ribbons, I can make silky tag ribbons Smiley  Thank You!!

Ooh that sounds so adorable. I would love to see those!

Yes, the bottom one is a rhino.

I love advent calendars! This one is so unique too! I am going through a recycling/reusing jag to. I have so much random stuff and I just don;t want to see it be one more hill of junk in a land fill.

Me and my partner do this every year too! One thing we do is write activities on little scrolls and put them in there, or coupons. Like Good for one drive to see the Christmas lights, or pics with Santa and then we would go to the mall and get our picture taken with Santa. One day I made a scavenger hunt and the first clue was behind the little drawer. little pieces of jewelry fit pretty well into mine I guess for a guy you could fit tie tacks or cuff links, possibly a  macrame necklace. some little adult items may fit in there as well if you are into that kind of thing. Usually you can find little plastic vials of warming lotion in different flavors at adult stores.

This would be so great in a classroom. I work as a substitute teacher in several schools and one thing I have noticed is that everything is so sterile and impersonal in schools these days. Something like this would go a long way to make things human again for the kids.
