Thanks for the tip about the lavender and Epsom salts! I will definitely look into that. I was told by the owner of a nursery who has a reputation for really knowing his stuff that Miracle Grow products will grow great leaves on your plants but no fruit usually because of the high nitrogen content. So apearently Miracle Grow is evil. Also I had lots more than one bag I had like 10 bags.

I made a whole planner with all of the growing seasons and stuff for each plant for my area. I think the biggest problem I had was that I used Miracle Grow Moisture control soil and also added Miracle Grow Time release plant food, so my plants had a ton of nitrogen in them, which I found out later causes the fruit not to set. Next time I am doing square foot gardening with Mel's Mix for soil. I am hoping that it works out better that way. Another thing that happened is that we had several 100 degree days when the plants were just hitting maturity and I have heard through blogs and things that really hot weather like that will cause tomatoes and cucumbers especially not to set fruit. I had know idea that making plants grow and produce vegetables was so complicated!

So this summer I decided to get my feet wet in the realm of gardening. My hopes were that I would learn alot about it and then come spring I could hit it with full force. So I planted a few vegetable plants: cucumber, cherry tomato, bell pepper, and fairy tale eggplant. Well I doted on them for weeks and they got off to a great start.

Soon the seedlings turned into thriving plants:

Then I started to see blooms and little baby cucumbers:

After that something terrible happened. All the blooms withered and fell off. The baby cucumbers never developed. The other plants just kept leafing but doing nothing else. Eventually they season passed and we had our first few frosty night. So, we made plans to pull up our plants and try again later. After a week or two of never even glancing at them we went over to them to and found a couple of surprises.

The amazing thing is that this happened on a day when I was feeling like there was no hope and that my whole life has been a failure. It's like the universe gave me a sign that I still have reasons to be hopefull that my life will bear fruit. I am sure it was just a coincidence but I needed that coincidence today.

Oh those are beautifull tattoos! I love tattoo art as well, I really want to be a tattoo artist but it has been very difficult for me to get an apprenticeship around here. Becuase I live in a smaller town they are such a tight knit boys club that they are hesitant to even talk to me about an apprenticeship. So annoying. I'll keep trying though. Thanks for telling me about what sparrows are a symbol for in tattoo art. Now I know why I was drawn to them so much. I can really relate to the idea of being free because I am true to myself. Thanks for looking at my work too! It means a lot to me when people take the time to appreciate something I have made.

Something that always sticks out in my mind is that a lot of times our culture of mass marketing and superstores often skips from Halloween straight to Christmas and they sort of glaze over the rest of fall, but fall is my favorite season so I like to savor it. So whith this in mind and also experimenting with my new sparrow design I made these earrings:

I included these green and brown beads that reminded me of a nest.

They are also pretty big, because I really like earrings that make a statement.
