1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Enid Blyton Swap?? on: April 14, 2011 04:22:16 AM

Anyone interested in doing an Enid Blyton swap?

I would love, love, LOVE some Magic Faraway Tree goodies!

2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Oh baby? Oh mummy! on: July 08, 2010 06:20:29 AM
So I found out recently that I'm pregnant!  Shocked Cheesy
I'm only around 9 weeks, so I'm still in very early days. We've decided to come out with the news fairly early because if anything does go wrong (all things willing it doesn't!), we want our friends and family to already know, instead of us trying to go through it all alone.

Anyway!

I've decided I want to be obsessive about stretch marks and skin care in general. I do a lot of costuming, and a few costumes on the books will mean I need to have a nice belly by this time next year so I'll be working like crazy to lose any baby weight I gain.

Again, I'm getting a little distracted. Basically I'm wondering if anyone has ideas for what products I should be looking at getting!
I prefer organic or hand-made soaps and moisturisers as a lot of the chemist-bought products dry my skin out or make me itch. As is, I use a moisture bar instead of real soap, because it doesn't irritate my skin.

Is there somewhere I can buy an affordable, good quality stretchmark cream / body butter / bath and shower scrub. I'm also keen on some bath salts or bubbles, because I'm going to need a good relaxing soak soon! Are there any ingredients I should look out for in particular, either as good ingredients or bad ingredients?

The thing is I live in Australia, and I always stress about whether I can ship items from America (and if it's not going to cost me a packet).

Rambling over, thanks for any help!
3  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Tofu (and Recipes)? on: April 18, 2010 01:52:53 AM
Hello all!

I'm looking for some interesting ways to start introducing tofu into my diet. It holds a couple of key nutrients that I find pretty lacking elsewhere in my diet.

Thing is, I've only eaten tofu a few times in my life, of which it was very bland and rubbery, so I didn't enjoy it.

So, I would like you to pretend you're introducing your best friend to Tofu, and share your secrets with me, please!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting Machines? on: January 07, 2010 12:14:39 AM
Hey guys. First time posting on the knitting subforums. Scary! Haha.

I just received ownership of my grandmother's old knitting machine. She bought it second hand some thirty (I guess?) years ago and it never came with instructions. I'm planning on Googling away to see what I can find on it, but does anyone have a knitting machine?

For your interest:
It's a Passap Duomatic. I can't see any model/make numbers on it, but I only got it yesterday and had to load it into my garage in a hurry. I'll upload photos of it when I get home from the movies tonight.

Anyway, I'd like to hear your thoughts, criticisms, comments, and so forth on knitting machines. Are they awesome? Are they a waste of time? Are they expensive and actually worth something?
And if anyone has them, how about patterns? What can you make on a knitting machine?

Cheers,
Sarah.

This is the perfect swap for you!

Craft for my Other or Another is specifically for that special someone in your life whos been a little left out when it comes to receiving items in your swaps!

In this swap, youll be crafting a 5 point package for your swap partners significant other or another, and have 4 weeks in which to craft.
Your 5 points can be made up of any combination (3, 2; or 2, 2, 1; or 3, 1, 1; etc).
Crafting will be from 13 Oct to 10 Nov '09.

Who is included in the Other/Another category? Anyone close to you who you think deserves a little attention from the crafting community. It could be your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, brother, sister, mother, father, uncle, best friend.. You get the idea!

This will be a fairly lenient swap when it comes to who youre crafting for. If you would like to have two people included (such as your boyfriend and your sister), please discuss it with your partner! If you are both happy to craft for an extra person, or if youre willing to craft a few extra points, please send me a PM titled Other/Another Swap Points/Person Update.
Please have it confirmed between the two of you before contacting me. Smiley

You may like to keep this swap (or the details of it) a secret from your Other/Another, to surprise them when the package arrives!

7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Discussion and Questions / Stamping - Where can you buy online, OR in Aus? on: July 13, 2009 06:54:55 PM
Hi there.

I'm trying to hunt down some stamping stuff [I've seen a lot of comments of speedball, but when I go on their site, it just poops itself].

I'm sick of using erasers to make my stamps, because they tend to break quickly, and they're not big enough!
I had a look on Ebay, and the only thing I ever found was a rubber block a few months ago.

If you know of any sites that sell rubber blocks or stamping blocks, please let me know!
It'd be super preferable if you know of any Australian stores or websites.

8  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Stitches and Craft Show - Sydney, August on: July 09, 2009 04:13:25 AM
I'm sure this has been posted before, but I can't see a recent tracking of it, so I figured I'd throw it up again, and see what it brings.

Stitches & Craft will be running from 19th - 23rd August at the Rosehill Racecourse.

I don't really know what's in store [aside from what's on the website, which I must confess I haven't looked at too closely yet, heh], but it sure looks like a great event.

With entry at only $10 a head, I'm glad that I can save up all my money to splurge on the craft stalls!

Is anyone else planning on attending? It would be awesome to meet fellow Craftsters while I'm there.
9  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Tiny Einy amigurumi on: June 29, 2009 03:09:42 AM
I just finished the Geek Chic swap, my partner being SpectrumSparksie.

One of her swap wists was an amigurumi, and among her list of choices, I went for Einstein.
After searching the web for ideas, I came up with a big fat nothing, so with a few photos for reference, I went for gold.

10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Craft for my Man --/-- Craft for my S.O on: June 21, 2009 06:47:04 PM
I was wondering if there was much interest in a craft swap for their significant others.

I know that my S.O is constantly asking when am I going to make him something, and when is he going to get something in a swap.
So I figured maybe it's time to pay back the person who sits by while you craft away.

I'm thinking I'd do it on the sly, so my man doesn't know he's getting things. But I think I'd ask him a few sneaky questions to help with the questionaire, even though I know him pretty darn well.
