1  Bleach pen attempt in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by clumsy_momma on: November 05, 2012 01:19:39 PM
I've been wanting to try doing something with a bleach pen for a long time but couldn't get around to it until this weekend. This is a really fun processes! I know a lot of people use freezer paper (which I didn't have) or free hand (which I don't have the skill for), but I just used regular paper for my stencil and used a box cutter to cut the pattern out. It worked pretty well in my opinion and I can't wait to make more.

This tutorial has been pinned for a very long time but my daughter and I finally had a craft day over the weekend and I decided to finally try this out. My daughter had a blast! We made three but only took pictures of two. The third is nothing but glitter beads and looks the best. One for the neighbor, teacher and then one for home. We're going to use them as a spoon rest in the kitchen...I hope that is safe, I don't see why not. I guess I'll let you all know in a few months if one of us develops some strange abnormalities? Either way, the smell wasn't HORRIBLE. I turned the fan on over the oven and opened the back door to air it out and it wasn't a horrible lingering smell that lasted for hours. We'll be making more of these!

Hi all,

So, I received from Blackabbey the other day but couldn't get around to posting pics until now. We were partners in the Spell My Name swap a while back. Here is what I got:

A was for the tree artwork which is adorable and is on my living room mantel.
N was for a needle felt book which included three sewing needles and has already been filled up with embroidery/crewel needles. There is also another little book to hold buttons (which she included with the book) and such. These are super cute.
D was for dollars and cents. I collect foreign (to me) coins and blackabbey was nice enough to send some. Unfortunately, the package was harmed in transit and these went MIA.
I is for idea notebooks. One of them is set up to where I can hang it near where I get inspired and another one is to carry with me.
E is for personalized stationary which elephants (one of my favorite animals) and there is a range of sizes from regular sized paper to business card size.

Thank you again blackabbey!

4  First needlework project in Needlework: Completed Projects by clumsy_momma on: November 03, 2012 03:21:59 PM
So, this is nothing snazzy like all of the other stuff on here, but I'm still very proud of myself. This is the first time that I've done needlework, I'm usually a strict knitter but wanted to do something different for the other half for his big 30. I wrote it out with using my own handwriting..I pretty much free formed the whole thing and used plied yarn that I just took apart.

This got made into a small pillow for the bedroom. I knit a square and then sewed the two together and stuffed with filler.

I want to try doing this stuff again, I think it may be pretty addictive like knitting though.

Class: Herbology
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Oak tree painting
Brief Description: This is just a simple painting of an oak tree in the fall, my favorite time of year.
Project Picture:

Forgive the second painting, that's a WIP...I don't understand why the first photo isn't right side up...

Class: Chaser Challenge
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: hair pretty
Brief Description: I could never be a chaser but wanted to show my spirit for them anyways by crafting a hair pretty. It is now 100% done, ends weaved in and all…I got impatient and wanted pictures now.
Project Picture:

And as close of a close up to the stitch pattern as I could get:

Class: Detention with Snape and/or reparo challenge, you decide.
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: the big ass blanket
Project Page Link:
Brief Description: When this challenge was first posted, I had one color done on this blanket...the cream color if you can see it. This originally started off as a (MUCH) smaller blanket that was "gently" loved by my daughter and needed some fixing up. Fixing up meaning completely taking the original blanket apart followed by re-knitting the whole thing and making it larger..although it did not need to be as large as it came out, that was strictly an accident that I just went with when I figured out how large it really was...That's what happens when your circular needle cable is only X long. The original blanket was more of a lap blanket that just covered her legs (for size reference, she is an about to be 9 Y/O) and it is now able to almost fully cover a queen-sized bed. I finally did the last CO last night and it just needs to have some ends weaved in.

This is the before blankie

And the After

Class: Beater challenge
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: eggs
Project Page Link:
Brief Description: I know someone has done something similar to this already, but my daughter and I had craft time a while back and since she loves faberege eggs, we decided to make our own. Once you see the pictures, it will be obvious that neither of us have done something like this before! Smiley We paper mache'd some old plastic Easter eggs and then painted once they dried.

7  Lace knitting in Knitting: Completed Projects by clumsy_momma on: August 08, 2012 07:09:50 AM
I have really fallen in love with lace. I've had the "I Can't Believe I'm Lace Knitting" book by Kay Meadors for a while know and finally did one of the patterns out of it a few months back that I'm quite proud of and thought I'd share with fellow knitters. Apparently no one has done this pattern and put it on Ravelry...I couldn't find it at all (here's my project link: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/clumsymomma/table-cover). It was an interesting and frustrating lesson when it came to blocking this beast and I will not go into any further detail about that process...

Anywho, pictures!

Thanks for looking. Smiley

Class (or House Pride Item): Charms
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Wrap-around cowl
Project Page Link:
Brief Description: I know that it is basically summer, but I've been fighting with this yarn for months. We argued and fought. She didn't want to be socks and then she didn't want to be a skirt...Nothing was making her happy. I even tried mixing her with several other yarn friends to see if that made her happy. Finally, we both agreed that simplicity may be the best for the both of us. This is a simple cowl that I was able to make in just a few days. It's long enough to wrap loosely around twice and several times if you needed to bundle up!  The pattern that is almost wave-like and the yarn color reminds me of the water. For a better picture of the yarn: http://www.knitpicks.com/yarns/Imagination_Hand_Painted_Sock_Yarn__D5420173.html
Color-way is Looking Glass

Okay...So, I've decided to jump on the bandwagon as well...This is just a great Craftalong and I've enjoyed everything that I've seen so far! I'm in awe of all the amazing wizardry that has been posted.

Class: Muggles Studies
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Table Cover
Brief Description: I have learned that Muggles like to decorate and cover up EVERYTHING! I have seen Muggles cover their tables and chairs with dainty items that must be taken off prior to using these pieces of furniture so as not to ruin the item. It seems like a lot of work to do without the use of magic, but it makes them happy. I made this for a Muggle who will be thrilled to have a new item to cover things up with. This was a long project but did not finish the item until this week. A lot of magic was needed, especially when blocking the lace to the appropriate size. Please forgive the bad images. I am still learning how to use this picture taker that was given to me.

Edit to add: Pattern is from I Can't Believe I'm Lace Knitting by Kay Meadors

Alrighty, so I received from the lovely monkey_girl! Just a friendly warning, I suck at taking pictures. Please forgive me.

First off, all of the items wrapped up because I thought this was a super awesome way to wrap them..all different kinds of paper and such.

And for the goodies! My real name is Andrea btw

A-   Accessories for your hair

My daughter has stolen the headband and is wearing it non-stop! I have a feeling that she may be trying to steal the other ones, so I’m going to have to hide them.

N- Necklace

This is a really neat fabric necklace that’s going to be fun to play around with.

D- dollars and cents

I collect foreign coins and she sent some awesome ones! It looks like three different countries including the one that she’s from (New Zealand) and she made an awesome pouch to hold them! My daughter and I had fun looking at all of them…She wasn’t quick enough to add them to her little stash 

R- rectangular pouch

How freakin cute is this! I love it. She included some yummy looking chocolate which will more than likely be gone by the time I finish this post. It is also the perfect size to carry tea or something of that nature when the chocolate is gone!

E- elephant

I’m a huge fan of elephants. This little guy will fit right in with my growing collection of elephants. I’m also super impressed with monkey_girl’s sewing skills because there’s no way I would have been able to make this.

A-   A whole lot of craft supplies

She wasn’t exaggerating! There’s some pom poms, felt butterflies (I already have plans for this for my daughter!), star stickers, string, ladybug wood pieces, and a felt piece that matches the pouch that she made. I have several ideas for everything already and am super excited. Especially because I do not own a hot glue gun (shocking I know!) and this gives me a really good excuse to buy one! 

Thank you so much monkey_girl!
