thank you! i feel really happy with the way the cake turned out now!dont think id be making this cake again, and i didnt take any pics while making it for a tute, but here's a description of what i did. First,I used a large sheet of paper ( A3 would do i think) to make an outline of an actual xbox to use as the template.I used a 15 x 15'' cake tin to make the cake and then place the template on the top and carved around it with a sharp knife.then i cut the top of the cake to try and make the top flat (which you can see i didnt really manage to well!) i then cut it in half so i could ice it with buttercream in between the layers to make it all moist and yummy.then i tinted some fondant cranberry green and grey ( with black and green gel food colours ). I used white fondant to cover the entire cake after i covered it all with buttercream. then i looked at an image of an actual xbox while decorating the cake to make sure the details were accurate. i used silver lustre and painted it on with vodka onto the grey fondant to make it look like the cd tray and HDD bit on the top. Finally, i used icing to write the details on the xbox and the achievement unlocked bit.and there you have it! an xbox cake! Smiley hope that made sense!

It was my boyfriend's birthday three weeks ago, and he is a super geek lol so i decided tosurprise him with an xbox cake despite the fact ive only ever really made two cakes before (burger cake - http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=291124.0  and mario cake- http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=293199.0) this was my first time covering a cake with fondant, and it was hard! i used his actual xbox, to trace on paper and then used the outline as a template to carve the cake into shape, the rest was just applying buttercream/ fondant and applying the details. let me know how you think it turned out !

c and c welcome!
