21  U.K. AND IRELAND / ENGLAND / North Yorkshire crafty places? on: April 04, 2009 11:32:52 AM
I'm having an Easter break in North Yorkshire and at some point I'm hoping to get into Whitby or Scarborough.

Are there any places I HAVE to go to crafty shop wise?

TIA

Thanks, it's easy to misunderstand when it's in writing!

Thanks for the links though, I'll hopefully find something brilliant.

Thanks for your help (and for telling me the costume forum even existed! Heading there as we speak...   Grin

Didn't even know what simplicity was (apart from a noun) so had to ask.

Also, wasn't asking for a fabric store, I know where they all are, was just asking for ideas.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of a related forum though

Oooh, thanks! Do you happen to have a link for it? Or to somewhere I can buy a pattern?

Thanks!

On a completely different tangent... Are there any book characters with pink hair?

hmm... I was thinking about Dorothy too.

I've already got the shoes! What kind of a dress did she wear? You think it'll be easy to make?

Thanks for helping everyone!  Grin

Hello.

I'm supposed to dress up at work (a primary school) for World Book day next week and don't have a clue what to go as. I'm also going to a 'songs from the musicals' sing along in a month or so -so if there's anything that'll double up for that too it'd be great.

Hope you can give me some good ideas, I'm sick of going as a witch!

That's gorgeous!
I've been looking for a new purse for a while now but didn't dare to make one. I might give it a go with that tutorial.

Thanks for sharing it!  Cheesy

There's the craft centre http://www.craftanddesign.com/

or if you're looking for supplies there's Abakhan http://www.abakhan.co.uk/acatalog/Manchester.html

or Fred Aldous http://www.fredaldous.co.uk/

all those are in the city centre and are dead easy to find. If you need any more help, just ask.  Smiley

Was thinking of doing it with the one on the left, the creamy coloured wool. Do you think it will work ok?
