1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Needle Position Selector on: January 18, 2011 07:42:20 AM
I'm just wondering why one would need to change the needle position. I keep mine in the center but most machines give you the option to move it to the left or the right as well. I can't find anything on the web that explains a use for any other needle position. Anybody ever use it or have any ideas when I'd need to change it???
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Closet curtains on: May 03, 2009 08:41:13 PM
So I got rather tired of those heavy sliding doors they put on closets. You can only get to one side of the closet at a time and the things in the middle are never really accessible. I had my dad take the doors off and I made myself some funky curtains.
I used a shower curtain rod, one of those tension ones, and clear shower curtain rings. I put grommets at the top of the fabrics. There is some interfacing just so they hold up to me whipping them open and closed.
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Happy Mothers Day purse on: May 03, 2009 08:16:30 PM
My mom mentioned the other day that she didn't have a good purse for summer so I decided I could make her one since she's always asking me what I'm making for her. The fabrics on the outside are heavier weight home decor and the fabric on the inside is just a cotton print. I did use a medium interfacing to make it a bit sturdier. The handles are grosgrain ribbon. I sewed two strips together so they'd be good for everyday use. I also put two pockets on the outside, one is on the side seam and the other one is just on the front. There's a pocket on the inside too.

I even put a snap in to keep it closed.

I really hope she likes it since she normally goes for the plain brown and black purses.
