21  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / 4 bracelets and a necklace on: December 04, 2008 11:37:49 AM
Crafting this time to give to friends for christmas presents, oh and one for me!!! :-) I hope this is the in the right place! I'm not much of one for beading, I'm more a crocheter, but just before Christmas each year I get a real urge to bead! I think its because it is such a nice indoor activity while watching old cheesy TV for me!!

Onto the projects

Purple necklace, I think I made this last winter but didn't have anyone to give it too, I gave it to a pal called Rachel who I work with. Its glass beads on a 22 gauge wire bent to somewhat resemble a flower, with a little extra purple bead to cover some of the wire, all added to a chain.

The rest are all bracelets made from memory wire - so its already curly and fits pretty much all wrists! I just bend an end to stop all the beads sliding off - slide some beads on and bend the other end. done. :-)

I adore buttons and want to wear extra ones everyday (which I do through the power of home-made earrings!) and so there are buttons on the bracelets and a whole mixture of exciting beads.

Green for my friend Katie:

Blue for my friend Fiona:

Purple for Kat:

And multi-coloured for me :-) :

Yay buttons!! :-)

Yesterday I crocheted my boyfriend some hand warmers and myself a hat. I'll wait until simon is wearing the hand warmers to take pictures. I find it really difficult to find hats that suit me - I often buy one each winter and try and wear but find by the end of the winter I don't like it - so I've tried making one, I think I like this one on me - what do you think?

I pretty much followed this pattern http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=133884.0 - so thank you :-) I added a row of HDC round the front and used plaits as the ties instead of crochet.

It worked up so amazingly quickly!! I was so happy!

mmm button grab bags *dreams*

for the first time ever I've had someone ask me to make something again so that they can buy one off me!!! eep - paid for my craft, how exciting (even though there is a little bit of who wants to be the only person in my city with it! - I don't mind people elsewhere being inspired!)

I have a love for buttons, I think they are amazing. I love how many different shapes and sizes they come in and have quite a few bits of clothing with extra buttons on. I think this all started with playing with my Nana's button tin when I was a kid, most times when we went to see her I'd go through the tin, picking out different buttons, sorting them, all sorts of fun and then putting them all back and leaving them there for next time.

After my Nana died my mum got her button tin, and then a few years ago I went through it and picked loads that I loved and then washed them as Nana had a love for strawberry jam and they were all sticky! I spent an evening or 2 sewing them all onto a cardigan, which I wore lots when I first made it but it feel out of being worn because it wasn't very flattering, didn't really fit, I'd sewn some of the buttons on poorly, I didn't like the feel of the polyester and to top it all off, it was black and I don't really wear any black! so yesterday I picked up a new cardy that fits, cut off all the old buttons, added in a few new favourites brought from Duttons Buttons (eee!) and spent my evening creating a new button cardy.

here is a pic of the old cardy:

I cant wait to wear it now that it is back in my wardrobe :-)
29  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Out Shine The Bride?? on: September 19, 2008 08:59:36 AM
I think while the groom's cake may be more fancy in terms of the strawberrys and chocolate curls, the bride's is more eye catching. I love how it stacks off centre!

those are lovely hair sticks!!

I'm just growing my hair and recently found LHC - haven't joined yet (I lurk places forever first!!) Had a trim this week (I did it) and so when dry and with curls it hangs around my bra strap, when wet and straight it's not a million miles off waist lenght eeee :-)
