4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Christmas 2009, what are you making? on: November 09, 2009 10:33:31 AM
Since I've been stuck in the house for a week with the swine flu...I got another idea for presents.  Going to take baskets and add a snout and a curly pink tail.  I'll fill the basket with little packets of kleenex, santizing hand cleaner, individually wrapped wipes, Burt's Bees lip balm, tea, a jar of honey and lemon flavored cough drops.  The topss in some pink footies.....  Those can be for the adults and piggy banks for the kids.  Maybe I'll throw in a bag of pork rinds, too!

I posted this on "broke and apathetic" but, I'll post it here, too.  I am doing PIGGY BANKS!  I have 17 presents to get!  So, I am going to hunt down a Dollar Store that sells piggy banks.  With any luck, they will be the glass ones.  I am going to paint them, decorate them...whatever mood strikes me.  I'll put little signs around their neck - Feed the Pig, Christmas 2010 is only 365 days away. Lost and Found, A penny saved....., Start saving now for next year....I'm sure I can figure out more whimsical sayings.  I'll include a roll of pennies for "starter money"....If I can't find glass piggy banks - I'll get the larger plastic ones - they have a spray paint primer for plastic.  I figure I'll have the most fun because I like painting and decorating.  It's a gift that lasts all year long.....and you can see who saved the most!  I have a feeling I'll have a fortune if I save all the coins that wind up on the bottom of the washing machine!  Have a holly jolly all!!!!

Alot of us are in the same boat - and it's BROKE!  I finally figured out Christmas presents!!!!  PIGGY BANKS!  I'm going to hunt down a Dollar Store that has the glass piggy banks - I am going to paint them - Christmas themed....and write odd things on them - Feed the Pig, Christmas 2010 is only 365 days away - start saving!  Next year will be better, Lost and Found.  If I can't find the glass banks - the larger plastic ones will work - they have a spray paint primer for plastic.  Depending on the budget - I'll include a roll of pennies, dimes, or whatever!  It's a gift that lasts the entire year!!  Plus I eat paint....
7  UNITED STATES / Michigan / Re: Haven't sewed in 25 years, need brush up class Detroit/Toledo area... on: October 11, 2009 12:48:18 PM
You say you are between Detroit and Toledo...Monroe County maybe?  Try any Joann's or a quilting grave.  Most of them have classes.  Alot of the High Schools and Community Colleges have adult enrichment classes.  The name of a city would be helpful.

Luna:  That is so totally incredible!  What total genius.  Pure genius.  You have a gift - more talent than I have in my 55 year old fingers.  You have started a trend!  Where can I get one?  Can't wait to see what other masterpieces you have coming!  Wow.
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Christmas 2009, what are you making? on: August 03, 2009 01:22:42 PM
Geez, celestial!!!  So many family members....with that many people - make them each an address book - everyone's address, phone number, family info - birthdays, anniversaries, etc....add photos of each member if you have them.  Make it an altered book - or an collage calenday for the coming year - put the family member's photo on their birthday, etc...
