1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: MMMMM Fried Marbles..... on: October 22, 2009 12:07:16 AM
oooo. i've done plenty of things like this before...just not on purpose. haha. i go to school for art and work with glass a lot, so i've been struggling to make marbles without cracks in them. the only thing i would be careful with these (especially if you want to sell them or anything) is that they might unexpectedly fall apart later. since there are cracks on the inside, it's really easy for it to just crack apart without warning. glass is really finnicky like that. i've had a lot of things just fall apart later on because they haven't been cooled slowly enough.
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / trash to treasure necklie on: August 24, 2009 08:05:59 AM
the other night i was getting ready to go out and really wanted a long necklace. i couldn't find any, so decided to do what any self-respecting craftster does and make one! i dug through my toolbox and strung together all my old band ring practices from my first metals class and voila!

all night i sounded like sleighbells.

Jana--the apron fit perfectly! i was so psyched about that. it's hanging in my kitchen now, and i've already used it. i did try the coffee right before i left, too (i'm at the beach right now on vacation) and it was sooooo good. it reminds me of something, but i can't figure out what exactly. i'm so happy you like the stuff i sent!

i know someone was asking about those coffee mugs. it's just normal coffee mugs you get anywhere (i bought them at the thrift store--there would have been four but i couldn't fit that many in my bag to bike home with.). you can get ceramic paint pens/paints somewhere like michaels (or online if there aren't craft stores near you). mine are the porcelaine 150 ones, too. you just paint on the ceramics, let it dry 24 hours and bake in the kitchen oven for 15 minutes or so. it was my first time trying it out, and it's super easy to do.
4  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / coffee cups revamp on: July 17, 2009 04:35:19 AM
i picked up some blank coffee cups at the thrift store and made some improvements for the last newbie swap.

(i borrowed a few pics from my partner, jl409. hopefully she won't mind.)

finally posting all the amaaaazing things i got in the mail from Jana. i seriously LOVE everything--thanks SO MUCH!!
anyway, here goes lots of pictures. heh.

lookit everything!!

this right here is the key to my heart. i can NOT wait to crack this open and try it out. i just ran out of coffee, too.

next is some coffee-cinnamon bath salts that smell sooooo good. f'rreal..i wish you guys could smell them. it's like breakfast in bed....in the bath. haha.

then i opened up this cute blinged out box. for a second i couldn't figure out what the numbers on the cards meant. duhhhhh. you have no idea how perfect this is--i have a big collection of sandpaper scraps and pieces from working in my studio that i can never keep in order. everyone's gonna be so envious when i get back to the studio.

headbaaaands! i'm headed to the beach this weekend, so these will be perfect. they're hanging out with my other scarves right now.

this one just happened to go with what i was wearing, so i obviously had to try it out.

ahhhhh--apron so i can finally stay sort of clean in the kitchen. i LUFF this!! and reversible?! so cute. (i am actually wearing shorts even though it looks like i'm not, i promise. haha.)

finally this little guy. how precious is that?!!!

he's made himself very at home on my crazy bed.

this swap has been so fun. thanks sevsonlygirl for organizing and especially thanks to Jana for being an AWESOME partner!!

welp, i have officially sent. can't wait to see what you think, Jana. don't make fun of the box, though. i went a little overboard with tape. haha.
8  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Newbie Swap Round 11 (SIGNUPS June 1 - 15 or until FULL; SENDOUTS July 15th) on: July 13, 2009 03:44:20 PM

Still need to buy a box, which they don't sell at the post office near me (random)

i swear the one near me is the post office time forgot. it has like one box, some stamps, and some posters that are probably older than i am. haha.
