21  earrings galore in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by rrose_cestlavie on: July 31, 2008 05:35:25 AM
i saw some jewelry holders made from records on here recently, and thought i would share my earring holder that i made a couple months ago.

my mom and i found a big box of old records in the wal-mart parking lot, so i snagged all the seriously damaged ones for projects. they were just sitting in my room until i thought of drilling some holes and making this:

22  a very harry caray birthday in Stenciling: Completed Projects by rrose_cestlavie on: July 31, 2008 05:29:21 AM
some of my friends' birthdays are right around the corner, and i'm broke. this is where freezer paper enters my life.

based on this skit from snl: http://www.vidstogo.com/player.php?vfname=snlharrycaray&ext=wmv i intentionally didn't cut out the islands on the letters. i liked it without them.
&on a model. aka me:
it's based off a pic i found with google, but it was too small to trace so i had to free hand draw the stencil.

i also made a tote bag for another birthday girl and stenciled this inside joke on it:

enjoy. thanks for looking.

23  paper-photo fusion in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by rrose_cestlavie on: July 28, 2008 12:58:27 AM
hopefully this is the right section to post this.

i made a sheet of paper with a photo of my cousin inside. then with a charcoal pencil, i drew on the parts that were covered.

24  paper beads/"my village" necklaces in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by rrose_cestlavie on: July 28, 2008 12:23:00 AM
a couple years ago in my high school art history class we were assigned a jewelry assignment [awesome!] based on african tribal art.  the general gist of it was that some tribes used necklaces as a form of currency, and these necklaces were made of materials found in their area. we had to make necklaces reflecting the materials that surround us.

i came up with this:

5 separate necklaces made from rolled magazine pages, spraypainted macaroni [all the gold is macaroni], wire and seashells.

25  old timey bike stencil in Stenciling: Completed Projects by rrose_cestlavie on: July 22, 2008 08:38:21 PM
last semester we did a project on stencils. i made an old-timey bike.
these are just 3 from a series of 20. some of them were just straightforward stencils, but after a while i got bored with it and started fooling around with what i could make.

printed with spraypaint on bristol paper.

i also had a stencil of my shoe print that i mixed in a little.

this one is my favorite.

[note:these weren't supposed to be crisp and clean. i liked the printmaking feel they had.]
