1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Terminating Rubber Cord on: December 03, 2009 05:35:32 AM
Hello Craftsters!

I recently acquired some 3mm rubber cord and would like to make some necklaces and bracelets out of it.  My problem is what to use to finish them with.  I am worried that the coil-type ends will slip off or cut the rubber.  Anyone have any suggestions on how to finish?  Will I need to use glue as well, and if so, what kind would be best?

Thanks for any help!

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Blue Bell Vines on: February 04, 2009 08:51:15 PM
These came out to be somewhat of a "happy accident".  I thought I was ordering the cute little flower beads that are drilled top to bottom, but instead ended up with top drilled.  Oh well, make the best of it, right?  Wink

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Been a While - New Bracelet! on: February 04, 2009 08:34:14 PM
Kinda excited about this one.  Let me know what you think!

The clasp is a vintage style button.

Simple design, but it always seems to catch my eye.

Comments and critiques are more than welcome!
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Trying Out Some New Styles (for me, anyway) on: October 31, 2008 10:18:48 PM
I like to try different things, and as you may have seen in the past, sometimes things just kinda "design themselves" for me.  Here are a few of my latest excursions:

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Trying My Hand At Rings - Literally on: October 23, 2008 12:34:07 AM
All of my previous attempts at making rings were not so spectacular, to say the least.  I'm pretty happy about these 3 though  Smiley

Funny story (or not) about this one - because of this ring, I now swear by wearing safety glasses when I use wire.  This cute little unassuming plain jane ring, landed me a puncture wound less than an inch under my eyeball and a black eye for over 2 weeks now.  While wrapping the ends, my needle nose pliers slipped off the wire and I stabbed myself about 1/8 of an inch below my eye socket.  Lesson learned.

This one is my favorite - not sure I can put this one out for the public  Cheesy

This one is not quite as huge as it looks, but it does have a LOT of bling!  My hands are only 6" from the bottom of my palm to the tip of my middle finger, so it looks MUCH larger on me than it would on most people.

Please feel free to comment and point out anything that I could do to improve!
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / October Birthdays! (IMG heavy) on: October 06, 2008 08:28:58 PM
SOOO...I've been really busy making birthday presents lately.  This weekend, I made my mom's, aunt's, great grandmother's, and my bff's birthday presents.  October is a BUSY month for birthdays!

Please let me know what you think!

My mom loves the Green Bay Packers even though they moved from Wisconsin 11 years ago - I wanted a classier look for her to Back the Pack!

For my Great Grandma who is 95 this year  Smiley

For my Aunt Rhonda - I hope she likes it  Huh

The last two are for my BFF Serena (we've known one another for 31 years).  The first is a bracelet and earrings.  She saw another bracelet that I did that was similar and wanted one badly, but she's not into bright colors at all.  The second is another piece that I had done previously that she fell in love with.  I changed it up a bit and made the earrings to go with the necklace for her.  The earwires don't really match either set very well because she is very allergic to metals and I had to use niobium to be safe.  She currently owns NO earrings because of it.  I'm hoping to get her started off right  Grin
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Curved Tube Bangles on: September 29, 2008 02:15:28 AM
I posted a pic of the copper bangle I did with curved tube beads a while back.  I really liked the technique, but just didn't have time to do any more like it.  Here is my next try at using them for bracelets after a very busy couple of weeks.  It's good to be back making things!  Please let me know what you think!

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / New Copper Bangle on: September 24, 2008 06:54:24 PM
It seems I'm still on the copper kick AND the pearl kick...so I combined them!

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Wire Crochet on: September 14, 2008 11:45:32 PM
Ok.  I know how to crochet.  I have hooks.  Every time I try to crochet wire, I end up with nothing but a big ball 'o mess.

What gauge should the wire be, and what size hook should I be using?  I know it can't be as hard as I'm making it.

Please help!
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Copper Crazed on: September 08, 2008 12:09:27 AM
I've always thought copper jewelry was beautiful, but until today, I never had the nerve to try it out.  I hammered the paddle pins and formed the earwires myself because I couldn't find any around here at a reasonable price (I'm cheap...lol).  Here are my offerings:

These aren't copper, but were the inspiration for the second copper pair:

Let me know what you think, and I'd LOVE suggestions to improve!
