11  Introducing the Ipod Touch Wallet in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by wildwoodgardens on: June 25, 2009 08:43:35 PM
This is a design that I came up with myself. My son bought an Ipod and needed a case for it. He also needed a wallet.  It has a vinyl cover over the screen, A small hole to insert the earbuds into, 2 pockets and one zippered pocket. It closes with Velcro. I have added a layer of thick interfacing between the layers for added padding. Comments and Criticism welcome. The pictures are a little grainy because I had to take them with my phone.

12  Mini boxy coinpurse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by wildwoodgardens on: June 09, 2009 09:14:53 PM
Here is a mini keychain coinpurse made from this tutorial:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=137930.0

It is made with a 4" zipper. I have also added a layer of interfacing and a lining. This style is a little more forgiving when making the corners than the other boxy pouch.
I used a 4x6 recipee card for the pattern. I trimmed the 6" length to match the full lenght of the zipper.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Julie

13  Re: how to add lining to this makeup pouch? in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by wildwoodgardens on: June 09, 2009 09:08:09 PM
I have tried lining that style by making it similar to a zippered pouch but it gets a little messy.
I have had better luck with this style of pouch instead. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=137930.0

I make it like the zippered pouch except leave the sides open. I turn the lining fabric over the outer fabric so it appears inside out then sew the ends shut. I then finished the raw edges with bias tape.

14  Revamped Buttercup Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by wildwoodgardens on: April 27, 2009 06:37:02 PM
This is another version of the famous buttercup bag. I have added pair of handles sewn between the top and bottom fabrics, I added only 2 pleats instead of 5 and added an interior pocket. I have also used a lightweight interfacing on the outside fo the bag and a fleece type of interfacing on the interior to give the bag some bulk. I also added a magnetic closure. Next time I will enlarge the pattern. It is very cute but a little small.

This is a bag that I designed for a co-worker who wanted a messenger style diaper bag. It has a total of 11 pockets. I used Amy Butler Fabric for the sides back and front flap. I used upholstrey weight batting between the fabric layers. C and C welcome.

I also made a matching diapler wipe and diaper holder.

17  Re: faux leather vs vinyl in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by wildwoodgardens on: November 25, 2008 12:18:08 PM
I like the faux leather better. It is  not as stiff and feels much softer to the touch. The fabric I found at the fabric warehouse is foam backed.  It actually looks like leather. I have used vinyl before and it definitely looks like vinyl.

Below is a picture of the back side of a bag made with the faux leather and tapestry fabric.

18  Mini Messenger Bags Inspired by Heart of Mary in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by wildwoodgardens on: November 23, 2008 10:26:18 PM
I started by making a small 8 x 9 inch bag out of Care Bear fabric for a silent action at our school. I didn't get a picture of that one but it tured out really cute. I then decided that these would also be a good size for adults.
I have added a back pocket, 4 pockets on the inside and a zippered pocket on the inside. I have aslo added a clip for attaching keys.

The first bag is made from a tapestry remenant from Joann's and a faux leather fabric from the local fabric warehouse.

The second one is made from Casino fabric. I forgot to add the back pocket to this one and did not want to tear it apart to add it.

The last one is a bag that I  made for my friend's birthday with a brocade remenant and some black shiny faux suede fabric. It has a black interior.

Let me know what you think.

20  Small zippered pouches in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by wildwoodgardens on: October 24, 2008 08:27:01 PM
Here are a couple of zippered coinpurse size pouches that I made recently. I used a 5 inch zipper. I would make them small but can't find shorter zippers. I used batting between the layers to give them some bulk.

I added a strap and some small pockets to this one to make a tiny wristlet.

There is also a small pocket on the other side. This side has slots for 3 cards.
