1  Re: how do you organize/ keep patterns? in Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions by wildwoodgardens on: September 07, 2013 07:51:59 PM
I use the tall sterlite boxes that can be found at Target or Walmart. They hold store bought patterns perfectly and will even hold pattern books. They stack nicely also. Since I tend to hoard patterns I organize them by type and designer. Patterns that I draft myself or with too many small pieces get put in small manila envelopes.

3  Re: Box Pouch in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by wildwoodgardens on: July 06, 2011 08:17:33 PM
I do mine a little bit different to keep the zipper seams and bottom seams from showing. Sew the zipper in like you would on a flat zipper pouch. Then sew the bottom seam of the lining together, then the bottom seam of the outside together. Pull the outside through the inside so that you basically have an inside out tube. Then finish the ends like she describes.

Here is a couple of snap bags that I have made. The purse is called the snap happy purse. I designed the cosmetic pouch myself. The fabric came from Ikea. The closure is a measuring tape.  Let me know what you think.

9  Bow Tucks Totes in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by wildwoodgardens on: March 09, 2010 01:57:25 PM
Here are a couple of totes that I made last week. I cheated on the blue one and didn't use 2 layers of interfacing. I used 2 layers on the chocolate bag and it made a big difference. It was also my first time using a fabric covered button. They are much easier to use than I thought.

10  Pansy Mini Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by wildwoodgardens on: October 06, 2009 07:58:56 PM
These are some little mini purses that I designed. The striped one was the first one. I made the other 2 larger because it was almost impossible to topstich the top on that one because it was too small to fit over the arm on the sewing machine. The floral one was next, but I thought the flap was a little out of proportion so I made the next one a little larger. I added an angled pocket on the back and a magnetic snap for the front. I used ultrasuede for the pockets and flaps on the larger bag. Heavy weight fusible fleece interfacing was used. Let me know what you think.

C and C appreciated.
