21  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Dom's Island of Misfit Toys on: July 30, 2010 11:50:53 AM
Hi y'all!  I just thought I'd post some pics of the plushies that don't make it out of the house.  Maybe it's a pattern I wanted to try out that either myself (which didn't make the cut) or someone else made, or maybe it's something the kiddo begged me to make for him.  Either way, the hubby calls them all misfit toys but my son loves them all!  Smiley

Here's a pic of most of them.  (Some seemed to have disappeared, I didn't check all Dom's hiding spots yet...)

And then in case you were really bored and wondered what they were, I made a list!  Plus, if I can remember where I got the patterns for the ones I didn't make up, I'll post them too.

1.  A weird looking bunny
2.  "Rudo"- My dino pattern and the kiddo chose the colors and his name
3.  a peanut (my son's grandma calls him that, she got the good looking one)
4.  a dog- I can't remember where I got the pattern for this one, I'll keep looking
5.  A patchwork turtle
6.  a patchwork ball- this I got out of a book
7.  a velvet pyramid- I thought it would make a good baby toy... it was so boring looking!
8.  a snowball- I LOATHE that fabric, kiddo picked it out of the remnant bin and it was SHEDDY
9.  a sock monster from my sister's sock
10.  a jelly bean

11.  a fish
12.  a jelly fish- based from this pattern http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=179725.0
13.  a fleece monster the kiddo designed
14.  "Bunny Bun Bun"- the FIRST bunny from my plushie peeps
15.  a salamander or lizard guy
16.  a 'horse'- everyone else thought it was a camel with hair
17.  Pirate- my first Poppet!  His post here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=313526.msg3605404#msg3605404

18.  "Roundy Round Round"- my penguin pattern
19.  a torch- a gift for my dad
20.  a pipe wrench- gift for my dad
21.  a water softner- goes with the torch and pipe wrench
22.  another lizard/salamander

23.  Moose/Pig/Bear- did NOT turn out well!
24.  "Blugon"- a dragon pattern I tried out yesterday, pattern here http://www.wyrm.org.uk/cuddly/beanbag.html
25.  and my best creation ever, my 3 year old, DOMINIC!!!  Grin

22  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / I apprently don't read enough comics... on: July 29, 2010 11:37:09 PM
since I didn't know that Harley Quinn was The Joker's woman.  Interesting!  Anyway, some new ones I did this week.

Harley Quinn

Panda Bear

Green Monster

(This last guy may resemble Mike Wazowski that works at Monsters, Incorporated, but actually his name is Matt Wazzupski and he's a lazy bum with no job.)   Grin

23  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Punk Girl Flashes Avenged Sevenfold!!! EDIT- ONE MORE ADDED on: July 20, 2010 10:26:53 AM
I mean, a Punk Girl, a Flash, and Avenged Sevenfold!  Smiley  Just a few of the plushies I've done in the last couple of weeks.

Punk Girl Commission

The Flash

Yes that's Ralphie from A Christmas Story in his Pink Bunny costume on the bottom right.

And a couple of hotties from Avenged Sevenfold!  (Commission)

The customer wanted the one with out a shirt, hence his odd nakedness.

And then I just did this one last night that someone commissioned.
Chuckles the Clown (Toy Story 3)

24  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Peacock Plushie on: June 15, 2010 12:27:55 PM
Hello all!
Here's one I whipped up last night.  I've been wanting to do him for a while, but I was unsure on how I wanted to do the feathers.  I think he turned out ok.  The pictures make him look a little washed out though, sorry.  The feather base is a vibrant grass green and that largest circle on the feathers is a lime green (so you can kind of get a better idea of what it SHOULD look like.

He's made of fleece using my own Peebles pattern.  Filled with fiberfill and dried corn and I use safety eyes.  He's got a button on the back of him to attach the feathers to the body so he's not appropriate for the little ones but I didn't want to glue them together and I didn't like how the stitching looked where they all came together.

25  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Custom Wedding Couples Plushies on: June 14, 2010 08:42:42 AM
Here are two of my latest custom plushies.  Both were commissioned wedding presents.
The first one:  There is some inside family joke about gnomes.  So hence why they are a gnome base.  The groom has a tie and the bride has a veil.  Then, they're wedding theme is pirates and fairies so that's why the groom has a sword and parrot and the bride has a wand and wings.

The second one:  The bride is a hip New York lawyer who loves Disney.  The groom is a actor/hiphop artist named Sneakas.

They are made of fleece (and tulle for the veil), filled with fiberfill and dried corn and have safety eyes.  The accessories are made from Shrinky Dinks.

26  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Rockabilly Save the Date Cards on: May 24, 2010 06:01:21 AM
My girlfriend is a fun and spunky gal who's totally into the whole Rockabilly scene.  I recently did a photoshoot for her and her fiance for their engagement pics.  These were the 5 Save the Date card finalists.

Here they are on some RR tracks

Here's the whole family

She's into roller derby and he's a bowler and they wanted to play off of American Gothic

And in the Nash Rambler.  My personal fav and the one that was eventually chosen for the Save the Date cards.

28  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / What do monkeys, ninjas, Spock and Lady Gaga have in common? on: May 05, 2010 03:03:30 PM
They're all things I've been making!  Smiley

Gruve Monkey Commission

Ninjas and a Mini Ninja

Lady Gaga

And Kurt the Grill Master Commission (most definitely my favorite to date)

They're all made with my patterns, and mostly made with fleece (a few exceptions for special designed fabric).  They are filled with fiberfill and dried corn to make them more like bean bag type plushies.  The ones that have eyes are safety eyes.  Glasses are embroidered on.  Facial hair and sun glasses are appliqued on by hand.  (I try to machine sew as much as possible.)  Accessories are made from shrinky dinks and the microphone and Star Trek logo are removable pins to share with you!  Smiley

29  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Elvis, Einstein, and Jerry Garcia Plushies on: April 23, 2010 12:51:44 PM
Here are the latest of my efforts.  Apparently I was in a 'deceased yet still awesome' mood!  Smiley

Elvis Presley, what a hunka hunka burnin' love!  Complete with chest hair!

Then I made him a Shrinky Dink guitar pin that he can share with his owner.

My mother suggested I make another cool mustached man, who's cooler than Einstein?  Smiley

Then I made him a Shrinky Dink button to share with his owner.

And last, but most definitely not least, Jerry Garcia.  And he has a Shrinky Dink peace sign on a hemp cord.

I'm kind of tire of doing the big poofy gray hair!   Smiley

Thanks for looking!
30  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / The 'Stache' Plushie and Other Plushies on: April 20, 2010 02:47:23 PM
Are you a fan of Magnum P.I.? Is Tom Selleck the man of your dreams? If so, then this is the plushie for you! He's dressed in his favorite Hawaiian shirt, with his tousled hair blowing in the wind. He's not only sporting the coolest mustache in the world, but he has a pin he can share with you that expresses your love of the 'stache!

I called my hubby at work to see if I could cut up his Hawaiian shirt and he didn't answer so I assume that means yes!  Smiley

I made a removable button out of Shrinky Dinks for him/you.

Here he is with another Punk Rocker Plushie I made this week.

The first Punk Rocker left already to go and live in Switzerland so I thought I'd make another.

And he has a removable button instead of an earring.

Then I decided to make a shroom.

A closeup of the underside.

And one with a gnome.
