I really like how your cables are turning out. Are you going to make the longer or shorter version?

I'm working on a cabled scarf for my brother, based off of the cables in Knitty's Dashing fingerless gloves. I made him a pair in black a few years ago and he loves them to death, so I figured I'd make a matching scarf.

2  my drops waistcoat in Knitting: Completed Projects by bminks on: September 21, 2010 02:46:41 AM
I finished my drops waistcoat- which I had been posting about in the wip Wednesday threads- a few weeks ago, but I was lazy and I'm just now getting around to sharing pics of it. Yarn is Sirdar snuggly baby bamboo that I rescued from a botched tank top project.
The first image is the most true to color

Action shots!

I'm using the leftover yarn to knit natalex's braided headband.

astrangeone- I can't wait to see your finished blanket! I love the colors you're using.

Kittymom-
wow, you've got a lot going on! I can't wait to see the socks.

Striker- that's too bad you forgot your knitting. Hope you had fun at your friends, though!

Even though wip Wednesday is technically over, I just now got around to taking pictures of my wip. I'm a total slacker.

Still working on my vest. I finished the left front panel and cast off with waste yarn. I'm a little on the petite side and have a feeling the armholes are going to be a little big. I also got to the shoulders on the back panel. Hopefully I'll be able to finish the back by the end of the week.

I won't kill you, I've gone months without knitting myself C:.

I have been working on this DROPS waistcoat for the past two weeks. It's been slow going, but the yarn is from a shirt I was trying to knit and had to scrap twice, so I'm making sure I get it right this time.

Yarn is Sirdar Snuggly baby bamboo, forget which color. I just took some photos really quick with my phone since I didn't want to tear the house down searching for the camera.

6  Re: * (Mini) Nerd Swap Gallery of Amazingness * in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by bminks on: April 14, 2010 05:14:49 PM
I got a great package from mandys08 earlier today! She incorporated my nerdy love of languages with my nerdy love of folklore and movie monsters

First, a disturbingly cute plush kaiju (Japanese movie monster) to add to my growing collection of disturbingly cute plush monsters:

I might have to make him a mini-Tokyo to stomp around in.

Next, a frame with the Latin quote 'Dux Femina Facti' (the woman was the leader of the dead) in it.  She picked that quote to match my love of Baba Yaga, the Slavic folklore witch, and decorated the frame with black and white pictures of peoples bodies. For some reason, it doesn't even look creepy in the slightest to me:

Part of the frame came loose on the ride over, but I'll be able to fix it.

Last a really cool door hanger that spells out 'Rawr' in American sign language.

This is the only pic I could get before my camera died, but I took a picture on another camera that shows the letters better, hopefully I'll be able to upload that later.

star confetti and heart buttons. I love buttons so that was an especially nice treat

some pretty paper

neat animal thingies. These are my second favorite.

and my absolute favorite: a matchbook notebook made from a paint chip! I didn't take a picture of the inside, but all of the pages have my name printed on them!

She even managed to get it all here without any extra postage!

I received an awesome envelope from Sonjaboo today.

the envelope:

which held a smaller envelope filled with goodies:

There was a neat gum wrapper with a funky turtle looking thing on the back, a cute purple dragonfly, three paper hearts in funky fabrics, some mini playing cards, a plastic circle, a sun and a pair of wings made out of foil, a piece of paper with some Spanish writing on it, and three adorable inchies. I couldn't get a decent picture of the inchies, but I'll try to post one later. they were so cute.

There was also some ephemera, which I love:

And these neat plastic thingies:

And another envelope with a paper flower and a sticker, AND a paper tag.

I love everything to pieces, I just hope everything I sent is as well-received.

10  Picture frame jewelry display case in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by bminks on: June 28, 2009 09:25:13 AM
I saw this idea on threadbanger a while back and fell in love with it. I finally sat down and made one this weekend.

Before:

After:

Action shots:

I just took some scrap fabric, cut it to size and sewed on some appliques - the bird is made of  scrap fabric and the flower fell off of a hair clip I had a while ago. Then I sewed on some ribbon and glued the whole thing to the back of the frame.
