1  So, I guess I've got a prom dress. in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by santina on: June 09, 2008 07:32:56 PM
So here's my prom dress, I decided to make my dress ages ago and started on it in early may, or sometime around then.

I took on the adventure without a pattern, and having never sewn on silk before. Which could have went over horrible, but managed alright.

Prom is on the 24th, so I don't have any serious action shots, but I might be able to post some after the event! So here goes.

So I had to get crafty with the ribbon around my waist, as I just couldn't figure out a method to get it to stay without slipping down. Eventually I just took the glue gun to it, and it seems to be working just fine! Also, the hem is a rolled hem, which turned out fairly well, but looks a little sketchy at some points; I'm hoping it'll be dark and no one will notice.

I did eventually have to add straps.. thanks to a lack of support and the constant falling down of my dress. Also! I'll get some closer specs at some point.

of course, showing my toilet and dirty mirror were not my intentions, but having seen my washroom, I think that makes us all a little closer.

and the SHOES! of course, the shoes!

2  Scrap dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by santina on: February 18, 2008 09:06:09 AM
So I had some random scraps lying around a few years ago, and decided to get crafty with this dress

The only picture i managed to get of it was last week, so I finally got around to posting.

Basically the dress is 8 vertical pieces, all sections of what would be a one-piece circle skirt dress.

3  Ready for St. Paddy's Day. in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by santina on: February 18, 2008 08:54:16 AM
It's prettty much been a few years since I've actually posted anything on craftster, and so here's my first new addition.

I picked it up from old navy, just a plain mens size S t-shirt, and decided it needed some work before being St. Paddy's Day worthy.

4  Re: Oh my i love my red shirt made from a big ecko shirt....its red:) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by santina on: January 31, 2005 05:50:59 PM
YAY!..i did it....cause everyone was bugging me Roll Eyes..lol...anywho...here we go..

So ...you start with a nice piece of fabric...make sure it is at least gunna fit around you with extra fabric...and about 2-3 inches longer than you want it to be..

then you cut it in half...(blue is the back red is the front)....

sew the two peices together so that you have a ...seam:)

then d the same with the other peice..remember to try it on..so that you know it fits...

cut out two strips of the same fabric...or different whicever you like....theses will be your straps...hem them as you like..i suppose you don't have to tho...

try on the shirt...and decide exactly where it is where you want the strapos to be...pin them on..or mark it somehow...then sew them on

cut another strip..smaller than the others this will be the part that scrunches the hirt together...

try on the shirt again....put the strip between the two straps...and kinda pull it down...or strecth ..it...so that theh shirt scrunches...and pinkit there....take it to you sewing machine..and sew it..

and tada!...uno shirto...

Smiley..hope ya like my tutoriall..(i made it on paint)Smiley
