1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Natural inks? on: January 18, 2013 04:57:19 AM
Hi
I am looking at making some natural screen printing inks and I was just wondering if anybody had any tips or knew of any books or sources of information on it?
So far I have used red cabbage dye, onion skin dye and coffee dye thickened with indalca powder, with cream of tartar and alum as mordants, but I want to know more on how to make sure the inks will be colourfast and lightfast (the first 2 washed out, when I put them on a low wash).
Any help would be really appreciated!!

Bahhh, in a slight panic about finishing everything in time, I have a uni deadline the same day, and other craziness. Hopefully it will all be ok though! Started the calendar today, gave up on the idea of the presents fitting inside it, but hopefully it will work out awesome, I have high hopes!

Hope you feel better soon Lynda! Hot tea, honey and lemon, rest lots!

Having to change my plans, as train prices are insane, so cant go home to collect my (well, my mums) fixed sewing machine for about another month! Sad
Been busy as a bee with school and work, but went to the library today and got some cool new ideas

Planned almost everything Im gonna make except xmas day. I have an idea for the advent calendar but just need to figure out how to make it work, though I have a feeling its gonna be like last year, where not all the day gifts will fit in the calendar!
Ive started crafting mini gifts though, and am hopefully going to the renegade in London next month, so may pick up some goodies there!
