3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Lucky Shamrock peasant dress (St Patrick's Day costume) on: March 16, 2012 06:30:23 AM
I picked my nearly-two year old daughter up from daycare at 6pm on Thursday only to see a big sign asking them to all wear green today for the St Paddy's Day activities (they'd had the sign up all week but the Mister had picked her up all week and kept forgetting to tell me.... thanks, honey!)

Well, she doesn't own any green clothes and even the supermarkets close at 6pm around here. And I didn't have enough fabric for a green dress so I improvised.... a white peasant-dress with green sleeves, hem band and shamrock (well, four-leaf clover) plus matching ruffled headband. I just used scraps of heat-and-bond for the shamrock.

Turns out she was the only kid out of the whole daycare who dressed up!  Roll Eyes

Gorgeous design and I love the fabric.

What does the back look like?

Homecraft Textiles in Mirrabooka has closed down- anyone know if the Vic Park one is still open?

Hi guys,

This is certainly a pretty quiet thread.

What's everyone been up to? Craft anything good for Mother's Day? (I cheated and bought a book and cooking class voucher from Urban Provider, haha, although I decorated the envelope all by myself  Cheesy).

I just made my daughter an apron out of bits of fabric I have in my craft boxes and some cotton tape for strings. Soooo adorable. She helps me cook several times a week so she needed one. It turned out brilliantly so I'm thinking of making one for my friend's daughter who is turning 3. She's elephant-obsessed so fingers crossed that there's some elephant-print quilter's cotton out there somewhere!!  Wink

There's also the Guildford Town Hall markets.  It's on once a month, i think. There's a lot of nanna's with teacozies but there's also a young chick who does lampwork beads, they're really stunning!!
8  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Kitty Dress for my little tiger on: May 29, 2009 06:26:46 PM
My 2yr old daughter would crawl over hot coals for a kitty dress like that!!

Is the fabric a heavy cotton? Or is it more like sheeting? I REALLY need to make a VegBee peasant dress and your post has re-inspired me!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy Eater Dresses on: May 29, 2009 06:24:27 PM
Good work, they look beautiful!! I really love simple, classic dresses on little girls! And best of all, it barely cost you anything, so you don't have 'buyers remorse/guilt' haha. Guilt-free crafting= awesome!
10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / I want/need Veggietales fabric!! on: September 27, 2008 02:07:29 AM
My 18mth-old daughter is CRAZY for Veggietales!!

We live in Australia and I'm about to start sewing her summer wardrobe. Only the Christian bookstores here stock anything Veggietales, and that's only books/dvds/cds/board games.

But I've seen veggietales fabric used by some American craftsters in projects and I would desperately love to make her something Veggietales, she'd go NUTS!!!!!

So I was wondering if anyone could help me out? I'm willing to reimburse for the cost of fabric, cost of postage and personal time. And I can send you Caramello Koalas and TimTams!!!
