3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My First POPPET!! on: August 18, 2008 04:09:12 PM
I made this poppet a few weeks ago and just got around to taking the pictures recently! I am really proud of her! She was my first stuffed ANYTHING and first poppet! I really struggled making her, but in total it took me about 8 hours. She is still without clothing, but don't worry she's not shy and does not have any lady parts! I made her hair from one of the tutes on the Long Awaited Poppet thread - I used two different yarns .. yes, she has a faux hawk!! Her eyelids are made out of felt. Her body is made with Alova Suede. I had the most difficulty sewing on the head and the seams in the back are NOT invisible .. unfortunately that was beyond me? lol So here she is:

Any comments and feedback would be appreciated Smiley

Azul is so cute!!

I made my poppet completely Saturday and Sunday. It took me forever as I am a beginner sewer - and I must admit I got a bit frustrated with my stitching a couple times (THE HEAD WAS SO HARD FOR ME TO SEW ON!) I can't seem to master the ladder stitch! All my seams are visible in the back Sad Oh well I love my poppet so far! I am amazed that I actually did it! Now I just have eyelids, hair, and clothes and I am POSTING! Smiley yay~!

medli - the doll looks awesome!

So I went to Joanns today at open (I use to work there so it is so much easier to shop when you know where EVERYTHING is! lol) Granted, I still spent an hour and a half in there! BTW does everyone know that Alova Suede and Microsuede is 30% off until August 9th?!!! What a fantastic coincidence! So needless to say, I got EVERYTHING I needed for my poppet on sale (because its coupon commotion) - I got 1 yard of a light tan Alova, and .5 yards of a leopard Alova that I couldn't pass up. Lets see if I can make even ONE poppet and then I will go back for more!! I also bought about $50.00 worth of other stuff just because it was cute and on sale! Smiley

When I went to buy my freezer paper, the guy in front of me decided to PAY FOR IT! Hmm.. Im not one to pass up THAT lol .. so I got some FREE FREEZER PAPER! Woohoo - the poppet gods are smiling down at me.

So my pattern is printed (thank ghilie!) and my fabric is ready and I am all set to go .. I will post back with updates! Smiley
