1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Craftster etiquette-selling wares initially learned from a tutorial? on: September 11, 2008 11:16:06 AM
I am fairly new to craftster, and due to all sorts of camera malfunctions haven't posted many projects. I have, however, been crafting for almost 6 years now and am preparing to do a craft fair for the first time. one of my favorite projects was initially learned from an online tutorial. I was browsing the other day, and noticed something another member had written. it consisted of a statement about how selling something learned from someone else's tutorial was wrong. This of course caused my heart to quicken. now I've never sold anything, but I was planning on selling some of the aforementioned product.
again, I am new here so please be patient with me.
My question is, would I be remiss in selling this product that I make? since I initially was inspired by a tutorial I found online?
I would NEVER want to steal from anyone, or garner a reputation as such unknowingly; hence my concern.

please help me ladies, what do you think? what would be the appropriate course of action?

thank you in advance got you comments and help on this matter!
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / First craft post of my own! a few paintings on: August 10, 2008 08:42:51 PM
I enjoy many aspects of crafting, from knitting to block printing, but my first love is oil painting. my work is going up on display at a nearby cafe for the first time in september, and I though I would share a few pieces from that with you! I am so very excited!! critique is welcome =)

this is treble cleft, the companion piece bass cleft is done but not photo'd yet!

nachtblume, my own made up lily.

mountain sunset, based on a photo but way altered for personal pleasure!

and last but not least, my favorite. untitled angel. its slightly darker in person, the head blends in to the background much more, barely discernible. I love the texture and shading on the torso. =)

I'l post pics of everything once its up in the cafe!
