1  Dinosaur quilt all finished! (pic heavy - but we all like pics right?) in Quilting: Completed Projects by The Good Fairy on: September 13, 2008 01:42:28 PM
My youngest son is dino crazy! I have been making this for about 2 months on and off, it's definitely the hardest quilt I've ever made. I did wish I'd never started it at times but here it is!

A close-up of a mosasaurus, I love how the teeth worked out Cheesy

This is the back, dino skeletons, you can see the dino paw print design I used to quilt the damn thing

Finally here's my son with his new quilt, do you think he likes it?

I'm so pleased, he loves it so much Cheesy He brings it downstairs every morning and then it's up again for bedtime.

P.S. Please don't judge me on the mismatched, un-ironed pyjamas  Wink

2  The saggy fire cozy in CHALLENGE 30 ENTRIES by The Good Fairy on: September 05, 2008 12:43:42 PM
Fire hasn't been on since March despite rubbish summer, so fire was very very chilly.

So I ran it up a saggy cottage cozy, the saggy bit was so totally planned Tongue Here it is in all its gaudy leftover red fabric.

My favourite bit, the wee chimney.

Now I didn't spend much time on this and I think it shows! I was distracted by the best present I have ever had...

Johnny, Jimi and Joey, all boys and all gorgeous Cheesy We originally just had Johnny and Jimi but we felt so bad that we had rejected the little one, so we went back and got him too, yey!

Sorry for showing them off here, couldn't help my self   Grin

4  Domokun! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by The Good Fairy on: August 29, 2008 01:34:19 PM
Ah my son is obsessed with Domokun Cheesy I made this a couple of months but now I'm here I want to show it off lol

He's made from felt and his teeth are adhesive fab foam. I'm really happy with how he turned out, his teeth are still sharp yey. I was worried he wouldn't stand up but he does. I put pipecleaners in his arms so he is a bit poseable.

I'd love to know what you think Smiley Does he look like the original?

5  Denim Mushroom Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by The Good Fairy on: August 29, 2008 01:28:09 PM
I couldn't wait to use this bag so it is shown with all my clutter in it lol

Close up of the felt applique

I am sooo loving that blanket type stitch, it uses a ton of thread though!

Constructive criticism most welcome Smiley

P.S. Do you like my new squishy white office chair? Cheesy

6  Re: Hello and help with dino quilt please :) in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by The Good Fairy on: August 27, 2008 02:11:49 PM
Thanks Eowynt and Marmish, you 2 are stars Cheesy

I have been considering echo quilting but I'm worried the back will look dreadful. So I think I'm going with a meander.

Finally figured out how to drop my feed dogs, the switch is in the storage drawer, why hide it so well lol

I was practising meandering but got bored lol sooo came up with this...

I'm thinking of doing it in a pale blue and just going around the dinos, what do you think?

7  Hello and help with dino quilt please :) in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by The Good Fairy on: August 25, 2008 02:34:23 PM
Hi everyone, I have been lurking here for a while, my bad Cheesy I really do like looking at everyones work, it is sooo inspiring!

Well I finally joined, because I really need some help with my latest quilt.

It's a dino quilt for my youngest son (dino crazy!) I have almost finished the top....

I am using this fabric for the backing....

What I am struggling with is how to quilt this? I have only ever made quilts from blocks before, never a huge applique quilt. I thought I would use black thread for the back. Should I just use one thread on the front or use a different colour for each section? And what pattern to use? Or freehand? I am not anywhere close to deciding lol any advice would be very greatfully received!

Ty x

P.S. sorry about the bad pics, its dark here, will take some better ones outside tomorrow. Smiley
