I think the Target yarn is great!  I bought a ton of the dk and furry stuff.  (Besides, no one would know whether the yarn you used was $1 or $10.) 

However, the needles are crap.  They are all rough and warped and prone to snap.  Chopsticks would be better!!  A friend and I could see a bunch of new knitters starting with these needles, getting frustrated and giving up.  That's a sad picture. 

I HIGHLY suggest you go to a normal craft store or yarn store and purchase a straight pair of size 7 or 8 (for the regular yarn) or 10 (for the funky stuff) for around $5 or $6.  They will be worth the investment.  Plus, if you really get into it, you'll start building a relationship with the people at the LYS (local yarn store)  for their help and expertise.

I knit this bunny based loosely on this one  (with a few mods- I redesigned the ears a bit.) 
I used a worsted weight yarn (Red heart classic) with New York  "Fluff"  I think the next time I use Fluff I'll either double it or pair it with a sport weight to make it less sparse.   It was also my first time embroidering on knit so I tried my best.  My friend is very fond of the word "Rogue" and that's the story there.

I think I'll give this awesome pattern a try!  I've always been sadly resigned on anything surplice, cupped, or seamed under the boob.  (I'd alway hang under the seam or fall out over the top)  To be able to make something that's truly hot, fitted under the boob and actually FIT is a gift indeed!  (I'll still probably add straps too)

I'm not sure other if people do this, but sometimes after knitting a while, yarn feels "sticky" on my wooden needles, so I'll take a small piece of wax paper and "wax" my needles.  It doesn't rub off on the yarn, at least perceptibly, and I don't think it damages the needles in any way but I hope someone tells me if it does!  I learned this one from my retail daze.  We used wax paper on the bars so hangers would just slide and space themselves.  (Still works in my closet) I imagine some wax might impede felting though.

I burn a lot of disks at work so I save those little rings at the top of the spindle and plan to use them (projects ahead) for big needle stitch markers.

did you try washing it? some of that yarn is really dusty... (handwash of course)
how about a small rug in some delicate place of your home?

I was thinking of  just shaking it out, misting it with some cool water and hanging it out for a bit before I roll it up.  It does seem to be very fray-ey (a word?) /loose thready.

All of your ideas are great.  I love craftster people!  I'll post my pics when I decide what to do.

 

SO I got this gorgeous recycled sari silk yarn scarf from a Tibetan shop in town, but realized once I got it home, that I cannot wear it for more than 5 minutes without it feeling like it's sticking hundreds of tiny barbs in my neck.  I'm normally not allegic to silk either. 

I was thinking of frogging it and using it for an accessory project (away from bare skin.)

Someone brought this up before- yes I saw the thread but that was a while ago, and there were only 2 ideas...
Does anyone have any new ideas or patterns for using recycled multicolor silk yarn?  It's too rich and beautiful for me to waste.  I was thinking maybe scrolling designs on a pair of jeans... knitting a little handbag... I don't know.
