My latest sewing projects have all been aprons. Maybe because I wanted to disguise my inabilities as a cook by at least trying to look good cooking.  My problem is, once I make something, and am pleased with how it turns out, well... one finished item turns into 2, which turns into 3, until I completely get sick of them and refuse to make anymore.

That hasn't happened yet with these aprons! Here are 3 of about 10 I have made so far! All modeled by my dress form, I have affectionately named "Gertie" which to me sounded like an appropriate 50's housewife name.

It is a long weekend here, and it's rainy and cold. 

So I took the opportunity to spend the afternoon at the sewing machine after being inspired by a post on the Prudent Baby blog for dress up bird wings. Super adorable! Mine are a little different, and my daughter loves them!

And just for this picture she decided they were vampire wings.


They actually were put together pretty quickly, and it gave me some good use out of older fabric I haven't touched in ages. I'm super happy with how well they turned out, and that my daughter hasn't taken them off yet and has been running around the house "tweeting".

I purchased 2 large bags of vintage looking notions and trims and sewing accessories, and these things were in the mix!

I am still fairly new to sewing, and no little to nothing about the older machine parts.

Can you help me figure out what this stuff is?

The black metal pc I was able to identify by a readable part number. It appears to be a Singer needle threader, but not sure for what models.

The needle has a small and also a large eye and a blunted end.

I can SORTA make out that this small zipper foot is Singer, but can't make out the part number and don't know if it is maybe missing something.

That other metal pc only has Japan stamped on it, but nothing else.

And here's where I'm sure I sound like a newbie  , those 2 small rocks look like they were for sharpening something I can see the wear, but what would they have been used for?

Do any of you experts recognize this stuff? I truly appreciate your input!

I do love a good Gaga like anyone else, and I also enjoy fun.

My ridiculous accessories included a bacon choker, bacon shades, and a steak hair fascinator.

I did enjoy that wearing it at work, made people smile and say hello to me that normally avert their eyes and walk faster. LOL

I know it isn't quite Halloween yet, but I wanted to share a pic of the costume I made for my Star Wars loving 5 year old daughter!

I was inspired by other images I had seen on the net of Darth Vader girl costumes, and thought what a perfect costume for my little girl! A combo of her favourite things! Pink, tutus, tiaras, and Star Wars!

Hi everyone,

I am constantly admiring other people's work on here! Love it all 

I thought I would post a couple of my own bags that I have made for this summer. One of them was a summer messenger bag out of some canvassy linen and cute cherry blossom fabric. My everyday bags must be big enough to hold a full container of Wet Wipes (being a toddler's mom).

The second bag is made with some gorgeous vintage fabric I scored at a thrift shop. Its green with gold metallic flowers. The fabric looks very classy to me, I had to make a fancy purse with it. Somehow a wet-wipes toting size just didn't seem right! 
The lining is a dark denim.

Anyway, here they both are. Hope you enjoy them!

I just took up sewing a couple of months ago, and I decided to make myself these 2 similar bags. Stylish enough to use everyday, but big enough to hold bibs and wet wipes when taking out my toddler about town! 



Is this not the biggest vintage button you have ever seen? LOL

I haven't chosen a button for the 2nd bag closure yet, and I may just go without it. My stitching could be better, I'm working on it!
