21  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / List wording ideas for etsy shop here & help each other out on: August 17, 2008 06:26:38 PM
I would like us to help each other out with what to write on etsy.
I had been looking around the etsy shop before I open for ideas and tips...there is a fair amount of start up advice. But the one thing I could not find was shop policy wording examples. I had no idea where to start, so I went to a bunch of shops, looked at their wordings and compiled a mesh of them.

Please add on some of your own to help out newbies...stuff for bios and home page would be nice too...

here are some I came up with...***warning - long list***
Shipping:
1. Items ship within 7 days of payment via USPS. Itemsover $20 or 1 lb. are shipped priority mail to allow for Delivery Confirmation (DC). Smaller items will be shipped first class. Please let me know if you would prefer priority mail for the DC.

2. I try to use reuse some shipping supplies to keep costs down and our world greener, so please don't be offended if you receive your items in a recycled package.

3. The buyer is responsible for any customs fees or taxes.
International buyers are responsible for any customs fees.

Payment:
1. At this time I can only accept payment through Pay Pal. Remember, it is free to sign up and their service is secure. Delivery cannot begin until payment has been received. If I have not received payment after three days, I will attempt to contact you before canceling your order.

Returns: **7 choices depending on yes/no returns**
1. There are strictly no refunds and exchanges for custom-made items and clearance sale items.

2. Your satisfaction is my first priority. If you have a problem with your purchase, please contact me within 30 days so I can either fix it or have it returned.

3.Please note that we will be unable to accept the return of any item where there is evidence of use such as staining, perfume, or smoke. The item must be returned in its original packaging with tags still attached and all enclosed documentation. Shipping charges will not be refunded and it is your responsibility to return the item to me in a timely fashion ?/? within 30 days. Please keep in contact during this process so I can serve you as best I can.
Please note that NO UNAUTHORIZED RETURNS WILL BE ACCEPTED. You must notify us and wait for our approval and instructions BEFORE shipping an item back to us.

4. We currently do not do any refunds, but will review it on a case-by-case basis. Please read the item descriptions carefully and ask me any questions you might have BEFORE you make your purchase. We will gladly replace any item that is not what you originally ordered or defective (damage due to no fault of ours by the USPS does not apply).

5. All sales are final if you have any questions please convo me before purchasing.

6. Please read the details of each listing before buying. If you have any questions about size, materials, etc... please feel free to ask. But......if you must....
**Returns may be made if I am contacted within 5 days of receipt. Items must be unused and undamaged. Shipping cost will not be refunded. Buyer is responsible for return shipping

7. If you are totally not happy, let's talk, I am here to listen and we can decide what to do.

plus...Please keep in mind that Shipping Fees are never refundable unless the mistake was on our part. If something is not right, email us immediately with the Subject Order Error' within 3 Days of receiving your order. quoting your order number, your name and address, details of the product and the reason for return. We will then advise you on how to proceed with the return and item replacement.
Please note that NO returns can be given where there is evidence of use such as staining, perfume, or smoke. Please keep all tags and any enclosed documentation.

- MISSING/DAMAGED ORDER -
Please make sure you feel comfortable with these terms before placing your order, as no replacements and no refunds can be made if an order is lost or damaged. However, if there is an error on my part (e.g. I ship the wrong item), I will pay for the return shipping and will correct the error immediately.

Please email us with the Subject Order Error' within 3 Days of receiving your order, or email us immediately if your order hasn't arrived after 4 weeks.

If you entered a wrong address at checkout and the package is sent back to us, we will ship it back as soon as you confirm with us your correct address (extra shipping fees may be required).

Additional Policies and FAQs:
1. At this time I am not taking custom orders as far as bag style goes, but if you see an item you like and just want a different color combo or fabric I would be happy to make it for you (an additional fee may be added depending on materials requested).
22  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Cute but kinda useless purse on: August 14, 2008 04:46:26 AM
Just finished this recently...love the purse, good when you don't need much more than cell, money & ID...thus the kinda useless portion of the title. Plus, I didn't think far enough ahead on closure - a sew on snap and the magnetic snap on the flap are all that closes it...but it is small (therefore tight) enough to almost work.
<<any ideas on a better closure are much appreciated...I'm afraid a zipper  would alter the look too much>>>
just wanted to share...thanks for peeking  Cheesy

and a view inside...no pockets>> too small

And I poked a small hole just above the little tag (which I just slap on everything now) when using the seam ripper to fix stuff.
23  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / carpet baggy'ish bag on: August 10, 2008 09:47:04 PM
Just finished this one last week...camera is flubbing so I had to wait for the sun to come out  Grin
It was a bi%&*h to make...the zipper part anyway. I tried to make it so it was a bit down into the interior using a facing-like thing - if anyone knows a good way to get the facing-zipper-lining to fit nicely...I would love some direction...thanks in advance...
btw - material? dunno, its a layered woven silky'ish tapestry thingy..

and that d^&%n zipper!
24  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Squiggy on: August 09, 2008 12:30:28 PM
I had so much fun trying embroidery last weekend, I had to keep going...this time for something cutesy...I am always doodling these guys (there are girls too, she is halfway embroidered)...my son named them "Squiggies"
25  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / my son's Urban Threads (kinda) on: August 08, 2008 09:04:43 AM
last weekend we went on a family vaca & I tried embroidery for the first time....my 13 yo son was looking for something to do....and I didn't forget to bring just my stitch cheatsheet, but my new designs<<<that were purchased, just to clarify>> (so I had to sketch from memory - apologies to the original artist  Grin)

he said the stitches were supposed to be quick, long and choppy b/c an Evil Genius would have to hurry up so he can plot to take over the world...man I love that kid!!!
26  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / dipping my toes back in on: August 07, 2008 10:01:20 AM
I have been going through my old stuff for inspiration b/c I am looking to dip my toes back into art. I always loved it but was always only so-so...and I am OK with being good at what I am only mildly interested in and only mildly good at what I am really interested in.
Anyway...just wanted to throw these out there and share first - I'll compare later   Grin
this hangs in my parents family room...
this just always felt good...

27  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / No longer an embroidery virgin on: August 06, 2008 08:39:53 PM
I finally just went for it & tried embroidery (was always intimidated b/c it looks so intricate...which it is)
Went on a family vaca with the in-laws, so I brought along my old sketchbook, floss, needles, a hoop & fabric....
Only downside of my try was that I forgot to bring my "cheatsheet" of stitches - had to go by memory...so most of the stitches are made up.
not pretty...but fun! can't wait to break out more old sketches & chug forward...WITH my cheatsheet this time Grin
the first one...
and the one where I tried different excuses for stitches ...
Like all new moms - I am proud of my babies - no matter what they look like  Wink
28  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Zipper woes...any help appreciated on: July 16, 2008 12:28:06 PM
I usually do not have a problem with zippers....but I don't usually do them this close...so, for anyone out there who makes stuff like this...How?
The problem is mostly just at the zipper pull end (open end)...
Putting the zipper on the main was ok - but attaching the lining, well...not so much.
help please! btw...this end was last - I couldn't get it to work sewing continuous around - had to start & stop on either side.
 from the outside...
from the inside...
closed...
oh...and the whole thing...

30  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Opinions please on: July 14, 2008 01:08:22 PM
I am in the beginning stages of turning my hobby into a biz. I've only drafted about 5 different designs (created 4 of them so far, some with multiples) and have sketches for more to try.
I have the name, logo & DBA is being registered.
I started a website b/c friends and family were interested now.
What I am looking for is opinions from people not close to me that are also crafters.
Opinions on products & website (keep in mind still under construction - the store is hidden until I am ready) are very much appreciated.
thank you thank you thank you

http://www.tiltcreations.com

Now I can add pics so you don't have to go to the website (although opinions on that are very welcome)...
