371  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Who do you use/Who should I use for webhosting? on: July 19, 2008 06:53:43 PM
I was using Freewebs as a host for my diy clothing webpage but it actually deleted my homepage COMPLETELY when I wasn't even working on it - plus that page had been previously saved MONTHS before... so if you're looking for reliable - freewebs isn't for you

But it is cheap... well actually it's free and you can do a lot with it as a freewebsite service and all... so I would recommend it if you are on a budget or you want some free practice or maybe even want to have some extra pages on a different host that link from your main page

I had freewebs as my "starter" site (being free & all)...ok to get to know stuff free...but - while they never deleted my pages - they did switch their photo gallery/album design & workings....now it is horrible!!! need to find another...just an FYI

Thanks Grin
I was wondering about the clicking...alot of that info is there, but the way the program is, you have to click on the album cover & then onto the pic within it.
Maybe I'll just put each "album"/category on the fornt page tabs separately??? ...
Description leads me to another question...most of material is found, remnant, or repurposed so I don't always know exactly what it is...
any suggestions on how to get around that?
374  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Necklace Pendants- sellable? How much? on: July 16, 2008 09:28:44 PM
Sounds like a good price - but I don't know your material cost & time spent...this may sound strange - but there really isn't anythiing handmade (that I can think of) that I'd spend less than $5 on... even if it took 15 minutes to make...
they are cute - I'd imagine that your primary demographic would be on the younger side...so $5 would probably work well... good luck

Thanks...great tutorial...haven't done it with the end tabs like that (yet!)...that method usually works for me...but what if one of the main side seams had to be sewn first?
I think that may have been my real problem....the Daisy Blob wraps around from the front to back as one piece (I had to fuse it one to be able to keep it in place while zigging the edges) - if I had the zipper first, I couldn't get the main flat for the fuse

well...consignment shops get what - 40% or so ... and this would be 20%...
You said she asked you right? Sounds fair to me then - if you are uncomfy, maybe you could offer to lend her a hand setting up & manning the booth for her breaks and as backup...might be a good experience for you <I know I wish I knew someone I could do that with for the experience & learning>
hope it helps...
btw - got any pics? they sound cute

I think I'll try another one this weekend...but I'm doing it your way - I'll post how it goes...although I do need to work on my handstitching - guess I'll start here  Cheesy

Thanks Cheesy good tutorial...
I have done some that way...I guess I needed to add that the "Blob" applique thingy was one piece that wrapped around the side & I had to sew that side of the outside fabric to apply it first...makes everything wonky after that - but I didn't see how I'd get it on smoothly if it could be opened flat.
I may not be making sense..sorry

I usually do not have a problem with zippers....but I don't usually do them this close...so, for anyone out there who makes stuff like this...How?
The problem is mostly just at the zipper pull end (open end)...
Putting the zipper on the main was ok - but attaching the lining, well...not so much.
help please! btw...this end was last - I couldn't get it to work sewing continuous around - had to start & stop on either side.
 from the outside...
from the inside...
closed...
oh...and the whole thing...
