11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: All Things Hayao Miyazaki Swap GALLERY on: August 10, 2010 09:49:04 PM
"So today I got home and opened AmiAmour's waiting package, and
OH. MAN.
I got so spoiled!!!

Unfortunately the camera I usually use isn't here, so I had to try my best with webcam photos."

This is what I said yesterday. Then my computer ran out of juice, and I had to wait until tonight for a power cord. SO, without ANY further ado, AmiAmour's awesome swap package!
(Still with webcam photos - they came out pretty good, so I decided to keep them).

First up we have AmiAmour's classic (glow in the dark!) kodama ami. I was really hoping she'd send one of these! ^ ^

Next up, and probably my favorite, is No Face from Spirited Away. Note the proffered bath token. Did I mention she created ALL of these patterns herself? (!!!!!)

Duck. God. ^v^ (Spirited Away). I love this guy.

Adorable soot sprites

Yubaba's hench-bird-turned-birdlet from Spirited Away.

Which leads us to the tour-de-force:

Yubaba's baby. But wait, what's this?

Oh! OH! THAT'S SO COOL! He turns into a mouse!

All together.

And I even got extras! (Yummy Korean snacks). I was floored. The card in the middle is a super-nice note from AmiAmour cataloging everything and thanking me for being her partner. Smiley
(Incidentally, the cataloging turned out to be very important - the package was damaged in the mail and had to be re-wrapped. Thank you for your thoughtfulness!)

Thank you SO MUCH AmiAmour - I love everything to death! You have been a fantastic swap partner!!!

PS Open the white totoro  Smiley

Oh man, those mittens!  Smiley
Everything else looks really nice too. Great touch with the No Face buttons on the shoes!

I finally sent today, and AmiAmour's package came (though I am on vacation, so I won't get it until Monday). Anticipation x 2!
13  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Greek Mythology Swap! (Signups Closed, Sendouts August 21st) on: August 04, 2010 08:22:01 PM
Haha I thought I'd share this: Nick Humez just came on my shuffle and reminded me of his awesomeness. He's a professor of mythology in Providence, RI. He also writes songs about mythology, and they are hilarious.

I'm trying to find a clip of one of his songs - imagine twangy folk tunes about the twelve Olympian gods, Norse mythology set to steel drums, and "Akhenaten's Gavotte." Ok, so it's a mixed bag, but the good ones are worth the price of the album in my opinion.

Interactive Greek Gods Family Tree  I thought I'd share this, I've had it bookmarked for a couple years and totally forgot about it...fun to play with, and informative, too.  What could be better? Cheesy

This is AWESOME.

I keep saying to myself, "Whoa, such awesome packages! There is so much awesomeness I don't want to leave anything out, so I think I'll respond tomorrow when I have more time."

And then MORE awesomeness pops up! It never ends!  Smiley

I LOVE the Kiki package. What a complete and beautiful set! Let us know if you try any of the recipes - I'm dying to know what Miyazaki-themed food is like. (A big soot sprite cake with star sprinkles? Magicked barbeque foods a la the carnival in Spirited Away? Roast turnip? XP).

The little totoro with the umbrella is really cute missmuffcake. I'm so sorry you got flaked on Sad

Skullseamstress, I am in awe. The cords, the shirt, the FLIP FLOPS, not to mention the glasses! O_O Awesome!

Great shrinkidink work Bhevarri! I love the charm bracelet especially - the No Face charm is too adorable.

To anyone else I undoubtedly missed, I really enjoyed seeing your crafting! This has been a fantastic swap, and I'm glad I get to be a part of it ^ ^

Wow, that looks like a really great website. I have searched for other greek mythology websites, but most of them were oriented towards younger readers, or weren't very complete. Thanks! Smiley

I'm still conceptualizing, but I think I know what I'll end up doing. I'm excited Smiley

I have too many ideas, but iliveonarainbow had a really interesting questionnaire, so I think I'll be able to narrow it down nicely Smiley

Partners in two days? YES! Thanks iliveonarainbow!  Cheesy

*eagerly awaits the advent of stalking time*

That's great about your birthday shayneblate Smiley I can't think of a better birthday gift!

Moving right along (doog-a-doon, doog-a-doon).
Working on "Craft #2" and awaiting some supplies I ordered for "Craft #1" which should arrive tomorrow or Thursday. Still brainstorming the rest, but narrowing it down swiftly.

I think I'll be able to send out Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, sooner if I get that cyborg engine enhancement I've always wanted Smiley

Teaser pics tonight? We'll see Smiley

Oh yay, they came out so great!  haha that is quite a family that you made there, I think you've made more than I ever have =P  I was thinking of making some for the swap, but that might have been too obvious as a gift...  mwahahhaa I guess ethertree shall have to find out whether she'll be getting it our not! =P

I shall post a teaser pic of one of the crafts very soon!

The suspense! *gnaws on fingernails* I honestly can't decide which I'd like better - one of those amazing kodamas or something else amazing that I probably haven't seen before - I've snooped your work and it is all incredible ^ ^

Speaking of incredible, how about that package that tabooCREATIONS sent - oh my Miyazaki, those are some great items! I absolutely love the giant Totoro, but the plate is probably my favorite - each of the little soot sprites has a different personality. Adorable and well done!

Also, I love Minuku's crafts! The bookmark art is beautiful, but I think my favorite is the No-Face heart box - slightly macabre and very sweet. I <3 No-Face Smiley

After much brainstorming, I have started my items as well. I hope I can post teasers by tomorrow or Monday, but I will give a hint now: good things come in pairs. Or triples. Or quadruples!
