I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do with him, but here he is:

Wow, with cat hair and everything!
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Getting hitched next June! The ring, the dress and the plans. on: August 10, 2008 04:14:28 PM
Me and my baby are getting married next June (2009). I'm so excited, and looking at all the great photos everyone has posted compels me to share what little I have done so far!

First things first...the ring:

The center stone is the reddest red garnet I've ever seen. I love it! It's the perfect ring.

Next...the dress:

It's cute and vintage and almost perfect. I need to shorten it a bit (right now it's tea length when I want more of a party dress), and change the side zip to a back closure. Haven't decided on lace-up or those tiny little bridal buttons. I'm sure they have a name, but I don't know what it is. Smiley

Last...the color inspiration:

Red was a given, but this necklace decided the accent. I love these two colors together.

There will be lots of work to do in the upcoming months. I'm planning on doing the invites, flowers (paper), decorations and cake (cupcakes and stand) myself (with a little help from my friends). I have an artist/museum exhibit designer friend who's making our cake-topper. We may or may not do the food--depending on the place we pick for the reception (another thing we've yet to do).

I'm looking forward to sharing my progress. Hopefully it will help keep me on track. I'm a terrible procrastinator!
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Kawaii Fabrics+Embroidered Characters+Gamer T's=My First Quilt! on: July 11, 2008 11:49:44 PM
A gift for my sister's 18th birthday. She's a gamer girl and a bit of a geek. After a particularly hard year (toe tumors and hospital stays), I thought she needed a warm 'n fuzzy hug. So I gathered a couple of her shirts, a couple of mine, and one of my fiance's. He embroidered a couple of squares (see the squid and the crab--his first embroidery projects ever). I enlisted some of her friends to help me pick out the perfect kawaii characters. My mom and I picked out most of the fabrics together, and the green and white floral bits came from my late Grammy's stash. It was a bit of a process, but in the end I think it came together quite nicely, and I love that it has a little bit of everyone sewn into it.

I'm pretty sure she liked it. Smiley
