If you don't want to ruin the shirt I suggest doing a mock up bag with whatever pattern you want to use.....A trial run.
When you're sure about the pattern and the actual making of the bag use your tshirt.
Also, if you interface the Tshirt it will make it sturdy and you'll be able to work with it easily.
Good luck to you.

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: could i use vinyl for this bag? on: December 18, 2008 10:08:08 AM
I don't see why not.  I've never worked with vinyl - anybody?  Aren't there some tricks to working with vinyl?
I do remember seeing people say that once you put your needle in there is a hole that doesn't go away, so remember that.
Good luck to you.  Wink

I think you'll figure it out if you just mess with it a bit.  You can always play around with it and seam rip where needed.
I have the idea in my head but I'd have to mess with it to see if it would work.

Looks like you could do it very similarly to making a zipper pouch.  Have you ever done a zipper pouch?
Not hard, not intimidating.  There are plenty of tute's, I think I even found one on UHandblog before.

Yeah, it's like a stiff white interfacing.  It is still pliable, bendable but pretty stiff.
If you have a place where you get interfacing they should be able to help you or you can order it online.

I so wish we could see a picture of the awesome fabric!  Grin  You know we're all addicted to fabric here!
Can you take one of the tute's and make it bigger or design your own pattern in the size you'd like?
